my question is simple does cod waw store players ranks and achievements on a server like bf series?
or it will be saved on "our" pc's?

Im pretty sure it goes to server, unlike CoD4 that saved it to your pc.

They still use the mpdata file like CoD4 did:

For Vista 64, probably same for Vista 32:
C:\Users\YOUR_PC_LOGIN_NAME\AppData\Local\Activisi on\CoDWaWbeta\players\profiles\YOUR_CODWAW_NAME\mp data

Although the mpdata file contains the create a class stuff (e.g. Slot 1 has been saved to have Kar98, with Walther and Stopping Power etc.)

Servercache file stores all your favourite servers...

If you notice the key code part on WaW, it says that if you change your CD Key that your rank will be reset to 0... this suggests that it may be linked to the Activision Master Server, so you won't be able to rank up to 65 using the 'change cd key to this, download this file, login then change cd key back to original to keep rank' "bug"

Master server my @ss, i deleted my account just to check if i can retrieve it, but It was gone, so I assume that if you reinstall the game all your progress will be gone.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ways around it, theres already hacks out for the game.
