Can't get a server master list

Anyone having this problem? I haven't been able to find a fix for it anywhere...

My account in the top right says "Offline: Needles" and when I go to get a server master list it says I have to be online to access this feature...well, why won't it just put me online? After all, I did just make an ONLINE account. I can't figure it out, there's no way to make my account go "online."

Even if I add a server IP manually I still can't join because I get an error "no or bad challenge for address."

Any ideas anyone?

Something is preventing your game from properly communicating with the Master Server.

Here's some basic things to try (then try the game again after each step)

- do a manual update of Punkbuster, then add "COD5" to your list of games, update it again
- if you're behind a router, restart it
- if you're behind a software firewall, turn it off
- if you have any apps running in the background (XFire, IM's, anti-virus, etc), turn them off
- restart your PC, make sure those apps are still off, and try the game again
