Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Wouldn't say one is better then the other they are pretty much the same game, and it disappoints me. COD5 W@W could just be an expansion or mod for COD4 MW.

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Im still not sure as to whether i will buy it. There are still a few things i will want to see adjusted and viewed:
- Whether the zombie mode is also on PC (playable in Co-op)
- Whether various bugs and changes are made such as spawn points and the damage of bolt rifles and if it actually makes a difference.
- I want to see how "large" the extensions to the maps are.
If all of those fit my liking then i will probably buy it.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Now that I've put some more time into CoD5, I'm liking it more.
I'm waiting for a good mod. I want to play "Rifles" a little slower and with fewer "arcade" qualities. That was great for CoD4, but in WW2 I want something different. No recticle, but only ironsights sounds like a start.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
While similar, if people are seriously going to try and make the argument that this should be a mod, you've got to be kidding.
If it was a mod, it would be beyond total conversion, and that is getting into semi professional anyways. and lets start with the biggest change.
Co-op while still not in our hands in beta, is enough to warrant paying $60 IMO. I'd pay that for a mod to add that into COD4, and it's not cause I want to just play the single player through with friends, but since we can mod co-op maps, there will just be more and more. Plus a co-op map could easily become a non co-op maps easily meaning the value of making a map would cater to more uses.
Single player cod4 while decent wasn't my cup of tea, neither were the stock multi maps after a while, but the mod maps kept me playing.
The tanks are well balanced and I'm quite impressed with that, some bigger maps will help with that too. It's not quite BF2, but it's close in some respects, and it's nice to have a solid infantry game, with decent vehicles. Tribes, planetside, and BF2, all laked in the infantry to some level, bf2 perhaps being the worst, with ridiculous accuracy for some if not all guns at some point when you were shooting.
Roundhouse I just like, it's not huge, but again for a stock map it's actually quite big, and once you start using all the space and not just running the shortest route, things get interesting. The other two maps are decent enough especially the one on the beach, with a good team.
Guns haven't messed around with too much, I know how I play and what the guns generally are going to act like. I'll be using sub machine guns and rifles mostly, with some sniping, machine gunning thrown in for good measure, or helping round out a team. So far they work as expected for me, and I get killed by weapons in a reasonable fashion.
If there are as much people moding for this as there was COD4, and the level of quality is anywhere close I'm sold, actually speaking of which should get on that pre-order.
also they are throwing in the zombie mode, which I think will be better then old school mode was. as in I might actually try that were I never saw a old school mode server after the first few months of COD 4Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Depends on how you look at it, I guess. On the upside, many of the silly arguments about "skill vs Hardcore" will be irrelevant if the HUD becomes the only difference.Originally posted by CptainCrunchAll the different settings is almost a downside. Youll never know what you are logging into. I dont mind having weapons/perks/kill streaks altered, but to have a high level of changes to health and gun power is a bit much.
Or is that an option?
As far as I know, we won't be able to mess with gun damage and still have a ranked server. Perks will be on/off, killstreaks on/off, etc, etc. Only the health system will be adjustable to a larger degree (and it actually looks like the same health options can be adjusted on SC servers as well).
And I'm guessing that the HC server filter from COD4 will return in the full version of COD:WW too. So if you have the HC filter, and can click on Server Info to see what their health settings are, then I think that will be enough to help people scout out a server before they join. And if not, worst case is that you join, don't like it, leave...come across one you do like, add it to your favs. At this point, it's just not feasible to have filters for all of the options - probably would just be messy as hell, too.
Big picture view - I think having all these options/choices is more good than bad. A lot of people complained that it was too easy to die in HC, or that health regen was a pain, etc...now, all that can be customized, and hopefully keep the community interested longer.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
CoD:WW's kill rewards are much less annoying than CoD4's, IMO.
I find the artillery much less of a pain than the CoD4 equivalent; reason being, if you know where to look you can get a pretty accurate estimation of where the shells will land and there is plenty of time to get out of the way. I also find the dogs less annoying than CoD4's chopper. They're hardly a pain to kill at all, they're constantly barking and it only takes a couple shots to kill them or one knife hit.
My only beef with the game at this point is that the bolt-actions are underpowered, which the developers have apparently acknowledged.Leave a comment:

It's good that you made that suggestion, because I agree. I don't like going into a server thinking one thing but then it's something completely different.Originally posted by WhiskeyHardcore is no longer a "standard", as in COD4. HC now basically means "no HUD", and the rest of it can be adjusted, including different levels of health (miniscule, half, normal, double) and different health regen methods (none, slow, normal, fast).
So depending on how a server is set up, you can get a different feel or flavour of HC mode on different ones.
I have made a suggestion to the developers to try to find some way to let players know what these settings are before you join a server though (ie. maybe when you click "Server Info").Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
You can still lunge a fair bit, but not quite as long as in CoD4. Unless, you unlock the bayonet and you can stab people even further away. Handy with the trenchgun but I can see it being annoying for the opponents being knifed across the map :pLeave a comment:

No doubt its similar. Look basicly anywhere and you can say oh thats cod4 style. Radar, Icons, XP Bar, Menu and more. They should have went classic with this game, it just feels wrong with Germans hosing down people with a Thompson and stuff. For console it may be Decent IMO, but its not working for my likes on PC.
And ive had several instances where there was a lunge. I got knifed from a good distance before, and ive lunged a guy from a good distance before aswell, maybe its just me but its still there.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Anyone not saying it is similar to COD4 just because it uses the same engine, is fooling themselves.
The Quantum of Solice game uses COD4s engine... its different.
This however, is similar. The clue is in the game name... the game types, the perks, the attachments, the ironsights, the controls, movement.
I'm not saying its not good, but it is VERY similar.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
Crysis, well made (graphics, physics, etc.) but I hardly enjoyed playing it. The opposite though is harder to find, but there are a few examples where games are just pure fun.Originally posted by JoMaMazI believe they go together like PB and J. If you don't have a well-made, quality game, you won't have a good experience with it. Can you have a well-made quality game and not have a good experience with it? :)
Anyways, my point is that just because it's Call of Duty shouldn't grant the game immediate and bountiful praise - it should be treated objectively, which I don't think it's getting.Leave a comment:

Re: CoDWAW is better than CoD4
I think that may be it. I'm having almost no trouble with knifing so far (a few attempts that missed, but meh), and the "stab" is really satisfying.Originally posted by The_EliminatorIt seems the knife doesnt have that "lunge" effect it had in CoD4 which is perhaps why i have been missing because i have been knifing a bit too far away.
But I agree, it doesn't seem to have the lunge effect as much as COD4. I am especially enjoying knifing the dogs - very effective, especially if they're already attacking one of my team mates...they're very easy to kill if they're not coming right at you (or if they are, you can rush them before they leap and often get the drop on them).
..
I finally played the game for several good hrs last night. It has elements of COD4, but I agree with those who said it feels different too. A "good" kind of different, IMO. I think some of that is due to the weapons. So far, I'm really enjoying this.Leave a comment:
