THIS GUY'S POST WORKED FOR ME!!
FOR VISTA!!!

The fix to this issue try this:

1- Go to Control Panel
2- The click on "Hardware and Sound"
3- Click on "Sound"
4- Doble click on "speakers"
5- go to the Advanced tab
6- Set the default format to "24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)"
7- Thats it!

Right one, this worked for me also!

ok i just have to sit there for 5 minutes and it works. im using antivir antivirus service. game runs fine i guess. thanks whiskey, i just about sent an ax through my comp

Sweet, good to hear.

Basic rule of thumb - kill all unnecessary programs (like anti-virus, IM, etc) that are running in the background whenever you go into a game.

ok i got the newest 9.0c and i get past the error screen only to stare a a black frozen screen. things are going great....

First, give it a minute or two on the black screen. Second, are you using ZoneAlarm or some other software firewall? If so, try to Alt+Tab out when you get the black screen and see if there is a prompt there asking for permission to allow the beta to access the net.

i have directx9.0c and vid card is up to date (8800 gt) uninstaled/reinstalled beta many times, even downloaded from a different source. if anyone knows a fix let me know

Try reading the readme file.

error during initialization: unhandled exception caught

Try these steps first:

1) consult the readme to make sure your video card is supported.
2) update your vid card drivers
3) update DirectX
4) reboot your PC

If it's still happening after that, post a detailed list of your PC specs.

Same here.

Using Vista 64.

I always seem to have problems with cod games

I downloaded the game everything went fine and then after i clicked on the game to play it it gets started then it exits me out and tells me...

^for some reason i can't post a ss when that happens. it goes black.
