Convergence (FPS+MMO) will probably depend on the success or failure of Huxley...an FPS MMO. If that title does well, then you can bet that others will follow suit and they will improve upon the idea. Mod teams will more than likely exploit mod tools to make this a reality in other engines as well....I just can't predict who will get there first.

Yea, someone else who has heard of Huxley lol. Yes, that game is what I am talking about. I didn't know if it had gone by the wayside or what. Do you know when the release date is? B/c the date I last read has long passed. When I read a huge article about that game, I announced that will be the first MMO I'm going to buy and try. :)

As of June '08, Huxley has moved to free2play status. they are still trying to work out the business model for it.

I'm going to use 3 games...

MOH:Spearhead, COD:UO, and some sort of MMO.

The crisp gameplay and custom skins of Spearhead, add in the vehicle travel/combat of COD:UO, and use more of a large, open-world concept from an MMO so that users could travel all over the world and fight epic battles vs other users, taking/giving up captured territory, etc, as opposed to just fighting on small, contained maps that don't have a purpose/goal.

Basically a much more refined version of WWII Online.

seconded, ive always wanted a huge battle FPS to play. Thats why i play bf but, having MUCH bigger maps would be great...
