    The Revolution

First, let me introduce myself. My alias is Archimonday, and I was astounded when I saw the sheer number of posts on this forum, I can't believe I had been missing out on what looks to be one of the larger gaming communities out there, and before I continue to outline the true meaning of this post, let me just say that if this is the wrong forum for this post, I would ask an administrator to move it to a more appropriate zone. In time I hope to become more well acquainted with the system. I actually find fun in doing so, always exciting to meet a new group of people and discover the inner learning's of their forums, without further adieu, here is the true meaning of this post.

Me and a colleague have embarked on a mission to find out exactly what mod the players, you, want for Battlefield 2142, thus we came up with the idea of "The Revolution". The Revolution is a brand new 2142 mod, which hopes, with the help of the players; to deliver the most satisfying 2142 Infantry Experience out there. Let me better explain the mod, by giving a short story line:

"The European Union, once a democratic coalition of states, fighting for a stake in the chilled earth, had changed into a hellish, leaderless, Imperial Power, and with the defeat of the PAC, they were free to wreak their oppression upon the free people of Earth. Fifty years of fighting, had led to no result, no end, no resolve. Instead the EU separated, the legions of men finding respect and leadership in their Generals, and those same Generals were now the presidents, the dictators, the imperialistic men of war. Legions clashed, Generals whom once were allies, now clashed over regional control, and the very fabric of government that was left, began to unwind.

The People of the Earth, watched in disbelief, as those hungry for power ravaged the land, fighting battle after battle for a lost cause, hidden in a cloud of politics, and greed. Many gave up hope, families became separated, and millions died by the month. Some wondered how long the fragile fabric of human life could exist in a world of endless aggression. How many were left? How many more must die? How many lives thus lost? How Long? Those questions haunted the minds of everyday citizens, and slowly, they became aggravated, and unstable. Even in the most peaceful of cities, the population began to lash out at their "lords", starting riots, burning homes, hanging city officials, and burning buildings of a broken governmental system.

Clashing with military forces in small skirmishes and engagements. Until finally, one day, the people of earth would not tolerate idea of living in an endless war for power. Slowly, they banded together, forming radical revolutionist groups that burned and killed savagely with no remorse. It was only after the man whom they called Xiphos arrived, that the people of the Earth, realized their true cause, why they were fighting. Xiphos banded the misled groups together, into an army of the people, who were fighting not for revenge, but the freedom they held so dear.

It was then that the few became the many, and the hunters became the hunted, it was then that the people of Earth stood in defiance of their imperial keepers, and took the future into their hands. No longer would they stand by, and watch, as the leaderless armies of the world stood by and destroyed what remained of the planet, but instead they would stand up and fight for the very world they hoped to restore, and the Peoples Revolution had begun. Now as we stand here, the few against the many, the hunted as the hunters, we must but ask ourselves one question. Will we let those who sought to destroy us, now defeat us? Will we allow them to lessen our resolve, this is not the year 2142, this is the year 2197, and it is the time, where we shall stand and fight, fight for the world we miss, the world we love, the world, we hope to create. Remember Xiphos' sacrifice, and stand with me in defiance, death to the EU, death to the world of old, and birth to the world of the new!"

Now that you know the back story of our mod, its time to get down to the details, one of the key features of this mod is that much of the content will be designed, thats right, by you guys! Sire and I, the other lead developer, are veterans on other mod forums, and we full-heartedly support user input. While Sire and I have designed some weapons already, we can't stress enough how much we want the BF2142 player to stand up, and shout out to us, don't get me wrong, Sire and I are creative, but without the help of the community of players out there, this mod will not be at the same quality I, and even Sire want it to be.

The mod will be focused around a close, urban infantry experience, which is far more realistic than the 2142 you are used to playing. We are going to spend our time repeatedly tweaking every last detail until the mod is absolutely perfect and fun for any player to jump into and enjoy. What does realism mean? Realism means a better outlook on the real next 200 years, Sire and I constantly argue back and forth, taking examples of technology and politics from the real world to directly influence what we think the future will be like, and 60 years after 2142, we hope to deliver the most realistic world conflict feel as possible.

For some short explanations of what we are currently working on, you can stay tuned to our YouTube channel, here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRevolutionMod

Our latest video outlines the ambition we have for the mod, and while at times our ambition may out weigh our abilities, Sire and I have full confidence in not only our abilities, but the communities abilities. That's right, we are looking for developers, if you have background with developing game content, send a shout out to Sire or I, either here on these forums or on our own, we look forward to hearing from you.

I would like to outline one more thing before I complete this post, we are having a logo contest. Break out your Photoshop and design a logo or banner for the mod, send your submission to: Archimonday@Gmail.com. Sire and I will go through them, pick our favorites, and the Winners will become the official banners and logos of the mod in future updates and videos.

A realism mod sounds very original, hopefully it'll deliver a lot of realism. Extreme quantities of Realism in this Mod.

I hate attemps at extreme realism in video games, it always winds up being boring. Now if you want to put zero cone of fire, full auto, sprinting while shooting in, ala traditional FPS gaming goodness, please call me. I only play BF2142 because it's not too realistic for me to not be able to stand. I greatly disagree with the realism ra-ra turn FPS gaming has taken since tom clancy had to cash in.

        Re: The Revolution

I wouldn't be worried then, when you say realism, Sire and I know what you speak of, mods like FH and PR which take realism too far and limit the player in ways which are un-realistic, we are devoted to not doing that.

When we say realism it basically means zero cone of fire, with more recoil and upped damage, so instead of the 4 to 5 shots you would expect to down an enemy, it will now take 1 to 2, or 2 to 3. It also means making more realisitc weaponry (I.E. No Lazers), we are trying to stick entirely to bullets, Sire and I don't like lazers. It also means better looking explosions, sounds, to better immerse you in the game.

Sire and I don't believe in limiting a vehicles usage because of the kit your carrying, or making the maps so large that you never see an enemy, or unbalancing the sides, we will keep it even, and fare, and won't limit the players abilities.

Oh and, if ya want fire while sprinting I'll code that up for ya

at least give him a chance ffs.

if your dead serious about your efforts and contribution to the game then by all means go for it. It seems to many modders just give up at the first hurdle or make poor attempts.

i think the introduction of new weapons and some vehicles with slightly larger maps(most infantry based) would suit the majority of the players. Im no mod or expert on the subject myself so im not sure on how the process of making new weapons and vehicles happens. I would assume it would be based on the ones provided in 2142 but remoulded?

anyway good luck and as mentioned if you are determined to do it then go for it. would like to see the outcome

I for one am interested, there's not many good realism mods, you have stuff like PR which takes too long to play for your average gamer, and then you have CoD4 hardcore, which just increases damages. I'd like something that makes the weapons behave realistically and let you play tactically if you want, but doesn't take long hours to have fun.

QFT. And the weapons in the post look like the BOFORS and an AK-type weapon.

It's highly spammable. Voss is severely limited at range compared to the other ARs but its magazine of whooping 40 bullets make it great for spraying, which doesn't really fit with the 2142 gameplay because pretty much no other weapon is so sprayfriendly (par the SMGs)

In theory you can spray with any gun. And so what if people spray? It will help you to kill them....

It has a larger mag, but it's bullets do less damage....

Anyway, my philsophy in 2142 is to not worry about what weapon or dirty tactics your enemy is using. Just worry about your own gameplay. If you are good enough, you will kill them more often than they kill you, so nothing to worry about. The people that moan alot, must die alot.....

Well to be fair, when you die there's little else to do for the 10-15 seconds you're waiting to respawn, so you might as well take that time to ***** about something, yeah?
