But if I recall, they were clear about the "game" being used as a promotional vehicle for the armed forces, in contrast with Battlefield 2 which was simply touted as being the next great multiplayer experience.

The game isn't banned there,my copies of Battlefield 2 have the manuals and cases in Arabic as well!

It's actually the opposite for example Hizbollah and Iran have made PC games similar to Conflict Desert Storm etc.which are banned in the rest of the world for promoting "terrorism" although the Hizbollah one's are supposed to be based in real historical battles that took place in Lebanon and if you kill a civilian you get a "Game Over" screen.

But hey I don't think the game takes anyone's side except they made all the intro clips having the Americans winning the battles(Marines vs Chinese etc.)

And the Abrams does feel a bit imba although that's probably just me :P

War has been propagandized and glamorized since forever. Thats why we keep having them.

Maybe you live in one of the freer countries over there. If you looked at say, UAE (small little country on the gulf), you'd find it was practically just as free-speeched as any other country so long as you don't offend the rulers (and BF2 has nothing to do with them).

The middle paragraph, but I did think you were talking about the same thing in the last two though.

Jihading is one of the best things about Bf2. The only reason I bother to load it up these days.

Again, no understanding of the meaning of Jihad.

Honestly it probably would have sold more copies if it was called "Fight for Freedom" or something stupid like that. Am I wrong that it was released a few years after the 9/11 attacks in a period hysterical patriotism? I dunno but I find the 2 tacky.

But yeah, I dont think bf2 is real enough to be considered desensitization, if you look at the actual media that broadcast on conservative news stations all you ever see is a flir screen with some "jimmy jihads" getting consumed by a ball of fire. while in bf2 you constantly get your jets shot down even as usa. so i dunno about that..

surprise, it's not made by a US company, they have no obligation to make it pro-US.
