BF2 and Jihad - World at war? used to desensitise future soldiers?

Is Battlefield 2 propaganda? Would the world except a similar game called Jihaad - World at war?

Can you please rephrase your question? Personally, i would not mind a game called Jihad - World at war... dont see why anyone would.

well you gotta give them credit for not obviously taking sides as far as BF2 is concerned. the fact that you can play as an insurgent/terrorist/MEC and kill americans is something that doesn't really upset anybody here but i do wonder if kids in muslim/arab countries feel like they can't play as a US marine and kill their own kind. maybe the game is even banned in those countries?

Well if your looking at it from that perspective, i have no bones about killing SAS troops in Bf2:SF but thats just me, as they are not 'real' factions anyway i doubt anybody would find it offensive.

I have no problem killing Americans, it is just a game to me (in my heaviest Russian accent).

My friend has a total aversion to playing MEC/Chinese/Insurgents/OptFor/Spetz, he prefers to play USMC and tends to TK (by accident) people on his own team, because he just can't get out of the mindset and uniform recognition. Its an interesting thing to observe, I mean for a game. I on the other hand don't mind playing the opposition forces, I mostly select auto assign (unless I'm with clan or friends) and I also enjoys being on side that is outgunned and out matched, makes every kill all that sweeter.

Here also comes the political aspect, its not a matter of choice, but a matter of national pride. In other word, people who don't play games and don't understand in multiplayer games someone has to be the bad guy or just ignorant congressmen who see a game that involves alot of tactics, your gonna have some miss understandings. As long as its a good game, I'll consider it, but 'Jihad - World at War' (BF2 they try for some level of unbiased) would be kinda hard to swallow, sorta like 'Manhunt'.

Jihad means "strive" or "struggle"; Jihad as-sayf, means something along the lines of warfare (or Jihad bil Saif). Jihad in popular US and Western culture, means a holy ware against us by Islam (relative). I'm going off the western understanding, but he didn't make his question clear so I interpreted.

Heck if I can play on the MEC or PLA team I will.

What a fantastic idea. If such a game where to be made, I for one would definitely invest.

perhaps Jihaad world at war should be the localized game title.

It's a game, and they're taking somewhat realistic situations to enhance the gaming experience: if you see anything deeper than that, you seriously need to chill out.

                        Yea really...

I honestly never even gave it a thought, actually, BF2 never gave me a thought that it was ever more than a game, no more than the Yankees playing the Red Sox.

Pretty much everything foreign is banned in Iran. If you want to stop seeing "Made in China" on everything it's a good idea to move there.

If Battlefield2 were to be propaganda, as others have stated you WOULD NOT be able to choose a faction. For example you would only be able to be the USMC, going to locations to destroy, and crush Arab forces/nations.

Is Battlefield2 used to desensitize players? I dont think so. It may, if you were constantly barraged with entrails(guts), and situations where you had to field dress your comrades grotesque battlefield injuries, like gunshot wounds, or shrapnel injuries, knife slashes, powder burns, etc.

But that isnt the case is it? Um, no, you throw med bags that magically disappear, and all bullet impacts are dust puffs, followed my an over dramatic wail of pain upon your death.:dead:

Bf2 is just plain fun, a game. Although i have seen some videos on youtube hailing the "Juba" sniper of Baghdad using Bf2, and goofy kids whom pretend to set up IEDs using claymores, or C4. But i think that is just being young, and not understanding the depth of the situation that they are immitating.:salute:
