Screen goes black when getting hit or dying

i didn't experience this on my old PC but on my new PC my screen goes dark when i get hit with explosives or when i die. is this something that happens when you bump up all the video settings to max? lighting? or even a vista thing? i'd like to turn this off.

i should also add that the screen also goes pitch black except the HUD when i use the camouflage!

I'm using Vista and have everything on max, I don't get those problems.
Try updating your gfx drivers, or try the omega drivers.

Do you have a nvidia gpu? If yes, did you install the latest nvidia driver? (178.13 afaik) If yes this should be the cause, I heard from other ppl having the same problem, try an older driver.

yes i just got the card yesterday and DLed the latest drivers. so i must roll back my drivers??? sux...

i should also say it goes away with anti aliasing off though. i can't use AA on this new card with this game..

EDIT: older drivers solved the problem. thanks for the help.

What card do you have Minmaster I have my AA set to 8x on nvidia control panel. Runs great

8800gt but the problem is fixed with previous nvidia drivers. i am now playing with 4x AA.

upon searching the web, a lot of 8800 gt owners have this same issue.

so i dont get why people dont just use the drivers on the disk that come with the card...

Huh, weird. I just updated my drivers today and noticed this issue. Guess I gotta roll back my driver too.

btw, the AA black problem has been fixed with the newer drivers. i'm installing them as i write this.

Switch off AA in game and force AA on 'per application' in the nvidia control panel.

Doesn't work but not needed anyhow as this issue had been fixed since 181.xx
