New G5 mouse - thumb button keystroke lags

Just bought a new Logitech G5 mouse to play Battlefield 2 with. Previously used a MX700 cordless and it worked fine.

My new G5 - I have assigned a thumb button to the "Q" keystroke, which pulls up the commo panel and lets you select a communication to your mates. When I press the button on the new G5 mouse (in game) there is a delay before the commo appears and sometimes it does not appear at all. Using the "Q" on the keyboard, the commo panel appears immediately and disappears as soon as I let off the key. But the mouse thumb button (with "Q" assigned) has a ton of lag and renders the mouse unplayable for me.

Can anyone help me out? This thumb button keystroke worked fine with my old MX700 cordless mouse. I can't imagine what is causing the lagging with my "new and improved" mouse.

    thanks

Does the mouse button work OK in other applications?

I tested it in notepad and the "Q" types out perfectly. The problem only occurs in the game.

I don't understand as my previous Logitech mouse (the MX700) worked perfectly, plus it was cordless and it went through a hub, so you woulda thought the MX700 woulda laged.

But no, it is my brand new, most-expensive-mouse-I-ever-bought, that lags. What a POS.

Why did you set it to "Q"? Why not just change the in-game binding to mouse4 for secondary?

I had problems with the logitech g5 lagging in-game. Go to setpoint, game settings, and click on advanced game settings. Change the report rate to 125. Should fix the problem.

Thanks, that reduced it noticeably. That helped a lot. I still don't understand why THIS Logitech mouse will lag, while my older one (cordless, through a cheapo USB hub) did not lag.

            thanks again

its probably drivers if it was updated recently. same thing happened with my razer diamondback when they released new drivers. it caused a lag on one of the buttons assigned to a keystroke when the old one was instant. unfortunately razer doesn't have report rate option...
