Because of the crappy hit detection in this game move more, dive more and especially jump more(even if you are called a bunny hopper, because no one likes a bunny hopper especially ones thats looking down at thier @ss raped body). The more you move around the less BF2 will detect that you got hit. Now you know why your whole clip cannot kill a high ranker sometimes.

I never have problems with hit detection. A lot of it happens when you run BF2 on a low end computer with poor broadband. The CPU doesn't effectively process the netcode leading to poor hitboxes. Same thing happens when you have slow Internet or a damn inefficient TCP/IP stack.

You'll notice if you play on a good computer with a good ping, such problems don't really exist (a good ping is <50). You can snipe an enemy running perpendicular to you by actually aiming at them. It's a good feeling.

Hitboxes used to be less of a problem in earlier BF2 revisions, but somewhere along the line, EA have obviously played with the netcode and it's been made a bit more demanding, hence more problems. As Internet connection and computer power increases, it's less of a problem.

My rig has E8400 CPU, 8800GTS 640Mb, 4Gb memory, Vista Ultimate and 10mbps download, 1,5 mbps upload by cable. Pings sometimes single figure and do experience bad hit reg. Sometimes server related but on the other hand I notice that some guys from e.g. Poland with pings 60-80 have no problems with hit reg. The funny thing is that I see those guys shoot me at spots I used to be and that sucks. Very often I am already behind a wall or whatever obstacle and then they get awarded a kill, sometimes I already look at their back and then they have killed me lol. Also TV-missiles sometimes hit me when I see them 10-yards next to me. This makes the game harder.

Yeah, that'll be to do with just the poor BF2 code or an underpowered/overloaded server. A large proportion of the hitbox issues are because of low end client computers.

lol i plug bunny hoppers all the time because it only works against those with lag. And i dont have any.

No lag = no problem hitting bunnies

No matter how high end your system is, if you have a bad internet connection or a slow ethernet card you will have problems. Lots of gamers cheap out on the ethernet card, big mistake!

The other thing that can cause bad hit detection is a slow updating server.

edit: I still hate bunnyhoppers though because they ruin the immersion, nothing reminds me im playing a game more than a guy jumping all over like an idiot...

Bunny hoppers also don't stand up to shotguns well.

I bunny hop with a M11-87, and no one can hit me.

This is more like a general tip that could be applied to any FPS

To improve hitbox mess around with usersettings.con (search this forum or google), it won't be perfect but it helps no doubt if you find appropriate settings to your hardware/network.

Learn to snipe... I hit a running target at 406m earlier today.. You just need to get used to bullet drop and travel time.. It doesn't take a whole lot of "skill" just practice.

Also someone posted a video on here not long ago which has helped me a sht load! it showed how you can use attack markers (must be a squad leader) as range finders, Which i had never thought of before but it REALLY helps out when you roughly know the bullet drop at different distances..

I had never been a squad leader until a couple of weeks ago and before that never really been in a squad.

P.S. That's another tip, To avoid getting switched to the other team, become a squad leader.. 99% of the time you will not be switched due to team balance after the other team decide to pack it in when they are getting their as*es kicked.

What happens if you are a squad leader of an empty squad? Do you get switched?

Nup... Well I've never been switched when my squad is empty which it is 90% of the time.
