    BF2 Crashes at "Join Game"

I was playing BF2 quite successfully for the past week and ll of a sudden it crashes whenever I try to press Join Game after a map loads. This happens on both single player and multiplayer. The only new thing that I've done is add a joystick, and i'm pretty sure that couldn't make BF2 crash like this. Damn EA.

As a little experiment to eliminate the joystick - try disconnecting it see what happens or get the latest drivers.

It's not the CD key and it's not the drivers, and it's not the joy stick. I do remember playing with the video.con file, but I put it back to default and still no dice. I've also re-installed BF2 and it still crashes when I press Join Now after a map has loaded.

just a note - my whole computer crashes, and says input not supported.

FIXED: Just had to delete the 001 file to resset everythign to defauilt i guess.

This happens when important game files are either missing or corrupted.

To correct this, follow the steps below:
          • Click Start
          • Click My Computer
          • Double-Click the directory where Battlefield 2 is installed (C: by default)
          • Double-Click the Program Files folder
          • Double-Click the EA GAMES folder
          • Double-Click the Battlefield 2 folder
          • Double-Click the Support folder
          • Double-Click to run the file called Battlefield 2_code.exe (This will allow you to re-enter your code)
          • Re-patch your game to update the game files.
