    Crash to desktop

I've searched and tried pretty much every solution to this, but here we go.

BF2 crashes to desktop upon starting up on my laptop. I never see the logos, movie, or anything. When I run in in windowed I get this error:

    Debug assertion failed!

    Module: RendDX9
    File: C:\dice\projects\bf2\Code\BF2\RendDX9\VideoOptions .coo
    Line: 34

    Text: Unknown DynamicOption value 800x600

Yeah, some of that probably isn't relevant, but whatever.

    Any ideas?

*Yes, UAS is disabled and this is a Direct X 10 card. It runs CoD 4 very well.
**No, I haven't patched at all. I've tried that before and it didn't work, this is a fresh install and I don't want to patch if it won't work anyway. When I get the game to start I will patch.

    Re: Crash to desktop

Your screen is running at 59Hz, the game only supports 60Hz or above I believe.
I'm not sure if it is possible to force refresh rate, but some people seem to think it is:

    Otherwise, use an external monitor.
