Sound quality question

If I get a CPU that's more than enough for 2142, could I turn sound quality to very high and not have it affect my framerates too much even with a crap graphics card?

Say an E8400 with my current 3650?

Edit: On software, no sound card installed.

On software, with a good CPU, you'll notice no difference really. A lot of the processing is done on the actual Realtek audio chip (or whatever brand you have).

So, with a new CPU, you won't notice it.

Most motherboards have inbuilt sound cards that more than enough can handle high sound settings without any lag or anything...

Realtek High Definition Audio that I have, is a pretty common onboard sound card. It can easily use most games high sound settings.

I have a Dell mobo and a Pentium D.

Can't wait until I get an E8400 + Gigabyte EP35.
