    Possible solution regarding ''Patching failed''

I was playing BF2 1.41 a few days ago and it started crashing for no reason, so I uninstalled it, reinstalled and I wasn't able to apply the patch anymore. I tried different methods found here and there in the past 2 days, but none worked, so I tried something on my own and it worked.

    Here's what I did.

    1. Installed the game in My Documents instead of the usual Program Files to avoid security issues and chose to reboot later.

    2. I then went in my registry and added the rootpath for the installation.

    3. I disabled both Antivir's Guard and Spybot's TeaTimer. Alternatively, Safe Mode would be a good idea too.

    4. Started the patching process. As usual, it made its way to Objects_clients.zip and failed to patch.

    5. I started it again, and this time it went a bit further, but failed.

    6. Started one last time, the screen went white for a few times during the patching of Objects_clients.zip but eventually reached 100%. The rest of the patch went without a hitch.

I can't guarantee it'll work for anyone else, but at least you can give it a shot if, like me, nothing else worked.

Here's my specs in case it might have something to do with it.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Genuine with latest updates
    P4 Prescott 3,2Ghz
    2Gb of PC3200 DDR
    eVGA GeForce 8400 GS
    Samsung 80Gb Hard Disk
    Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
All with the latest drivers and firmwares.

I hope this will help someone. :)

Re: Possible solution regarding ''Patching failed''

When I had a problem with this it was due to my software firewall. I had to disable it to get it to work.
