    COD5 Ranked/Unranked MP Options

Several sources have reported that there will be non-player controlled mp elements in WaW. For anyone not familiar this involved, in COD4, things such as UAV, airstrikes and choppers.

Now, I've no idea if anyone connected to making the game will read this, but in the off chance they will, I feel its important to say that you must give players options in MP as to how their game will play.

What I mean by this is, in COD4 the UAV was annoying. It may seem a small thing to some people, but something that gives away the location of other players is in some ways, a ridiculous addition. We were all familiar with red-dot spammers. To me UAV/Red dots in an FPS MP are the most awful, noob like things in any game. A major part of the game is working out where someone might be, and out-thinking them. In COD4 I was forced to play with these things because the majority of servers had it in.

However, it's not my place to argue with anyone who wants to play with those things. What I ask is that in COD5 we are presented with the option to toggle these things on and off, without forsaking the ranked nature of your server. It always makes it much more popular. I would bet with the option to maintain ranking and remove UAV etc we would see a lot of servers removing this.

I agree that many more options should be allowed when running a ranked server.

I'd go as far as to say that because the ranking system in COD4/COD:WW is so limited and not tracked globally and permanently (which I personally do like) such as in a BF2-type game , it really shouldn't matter how the server is set up options-wise to allow it to be ranked. It can be pistols only, vehicles-only, custom maps only, or a specific game type...because people still max out at a relatively low level, it's pointless to worry about whether you can rank up faster on Server A vs. Server B, or if the servers are "fair". It took an average player less than 50 total hrs to max out at lvl 55 in COD4...IMO, that's not worth even worrying about any differences between servers.

If every server was ranked, including custom ones, then I think we'd see more support across the board and more traffic on all servers. But because of ranking, I think there are a lot of people who avoid playing on custom servers, making them harder to populate and support.

The whole client side stats thing really is retarded when they try to control what ranked and not. Right now you can download a lvl 55 profile and use it in like 2 minutes, if it were a game with a central stat server, then I'd take the whole ranked/unranked thing a little bit more seriously.
