Whenever I try to join a Northern Strike games, the map loads, but when I click the "Join Game" button, I get kicked to the main menu with the "This server does not allow modified content etc" message. I Have tried every combination of installing Northern Strike, patching bf2142, installing NS again, patching again etc but that doesn't seem to work. When I install Northern Strike, a pop up appears telling me that there is an update available. I'm assuming that it is for the whole bf2142 game, not just NS. I have not tried re downloading it, because EA Download Manager is trying to make my life miserable. Can anyone help?

this is usually fixed 1 of 2 ways. check out this thread & the info posted by Natt
that didn't work for me personally, but there was another solution for myself & many others.
>install bf2142
>install NS (requires to bf2142 v 1.25 or higher)
>patch to 1.40 using the full patch
>patch to 1.50 using the incremental patch to 1.50 (NOT THE FULL PATCH)
it is the full 1.50 patch that can sometimes cause this modified content error as well as CTD's when viewing awards in bfhq

Thanks. I tried editing the registry, then installing 1.4, NS, 1.4 then 1.4-1.5. That got me on to a server, but after a while the game crashed. I'm going to try completely reinstalling now, I'll let you know how that works out.Comment

It doesn't usually happen to me. I tried re-installing it, but that has just ruined everything. Whenever a map loads, everything crashes to the point where I have to turn it all off. I have had this problem before, it's to do with audio, because the same thing happens when I try to change audio options. I have an inbuilt Realtek HD soundcard, and it really doesn't like me. Any suggestions?Comment

Sounds like the cd key has gone awol.
Use the manual uninstall.
As for the audio crash, that usually has something to do with audio ripping software.

That sounds a lot like this problem, but I don't get that error message when I install. I tried uninstalling my TV card's drivers and software, then reinstalling bf2142. That didnt work. I also tried editing the audio con file, even using a backup con from when the game was working, but still nothing. What audio applications do you need to remove, because the only installed programs I have that I know of are Windows Media Player and iTunes.
EDIT: Success! I believe the problem was a driver for an XBox headset, so I removed that. Thanks for all your help guys.Comment
