BF2 refuses to be patched

before anything else let me say that i am currently running windows vista ultimate 64 bit. secondly the game seems to run and play just fine but i just cant seem to patch it. on the top right corner it says i have the 2940 version like this:

1.0.2442.0 ~ 1.0 (bf2 install, no patches)
1.1.2475.0 ~ 1.01
1.1.2484.0 ~ 1.02
1.1.2551.0 ~ 1.03
1.1.2552-344.0 ~ 1.1 (special forces install)
1.1.2554-356.0 ~ 1.12
1.1.2696-528.0 ~ 1.2
1.1.2716-548.0 ~ 1.21
1.1.2720-552.0 ~ 1.22
1.1.2878-710.0 ~ 1.3
1.1.2963-795.0 ~ 1.4
1.1.2965-797.0 ~ 1.41

1.40 beta 1 = 1.1.2940-772.0
1.40 beta 2 = 1.1.2940-775.0
1.40 (leaked) = 1.1.2961-793.0

if it says 2963, then you have the 1.4 patch. you need 1.41 patch.

and even though i have run the 1.41 patch installer like 4 times now it still says the same, the installer runs and finishes just fine but its just not updating BF2, is it because of the directory it is installed in?

Click Start, run, type regedit, go here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2 and see if the InstallDir matches the one your bf2 is installed in.
If that is correct then the patch should be able to find the game dir.

well i just checked it and yes, they do match the location is still C:\program files(X86)\bf2
however i did notice on the registry editor it says "version: 1.4" even though i already successfully ran the 1.41 patch like 10 times

EDIT: after fighting around with it for a few hours i finally managed to get it going, now i just gotta get back my bf2 leet skillz
