Re: When BF2 Loads map.
It's done it for me on every system I've played BF2 on. The lowest amount of RAM I've had is 1.5GB. Now I have 4GB, it still does it. It's during the "Geometries" part of loading, so maybe it's just something more intense for that extra second or so than textures and such.Comment

Geometrics eh? What kind of video cards do you guys have?
Remember....BF2 is one big a$$ piece of glitch! I say if it works, be happy!Comment

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
At 62% it is optimising your machine, normally when you change a setting it will do that.
Once it has done the optimising once it shouldn’t do it again, so I'm not sure what your problem is as my computer skips right through that point if I haven't changed anything.Comment

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
Nope, it's already optimised. It's just a little hitch at 62%. It used to be longer, now I have a faster HDD and Proc, it only pauses for a second, as it only takes me about 35-45 seconds to get into a round. It does stop for the longest in that particular spot.
I'm fairly certain it's what Yoster said, geometries are what make up the underlying everything of a map, so it takes a little more time to load it.Comment

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
Exactly.Originally posted by YosterBecause its a bigger part of the loading, geometry is pretty much what makes a whole map.
It's basically building the map for your stat padding pleasure. Give it a minute or two and you'll be knife/reviving people in no time.

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
I've never had it happen in BF2, but it did the same thing, to many people, in 2142. It was a file that became corrupted.
If you go to your main BF2 folder, look for a file named "radial". You have to un-hide system files if you have them hidden. Then rename it, don't delete just in case it jacks things up even more, you can go back.
Next time you start the game it will rebuild that file. Presto! :)Comment

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
When I say it pauses at that point, I don't mean it stops. I mean if it takes me 26 seconds to get into a server, 7 of them are at Geometries. It isn't a long pause, just a noticeable one when everything else blinks by in an instant. I'm quite certain nothing is corrupted.Comment

Re: When BF2 Loads map.
Ah, in that case, ignore my previous post. I wasn't distinguishing between 'pause' and 'stop'. I have an older slower system, so it takes a good 30 - 60 seconds to fully load a map. I never noticed if something loaded slower than others.
So, for the OP, I have no clue. While my maps load slowly, they all seem to be pretty consistent.Comment
