Thread should be title which Operating System runs BF2142 better.
The performance is dependent on the hardware and runs best on Windows XP Home to Windows Vista Ultimate 32/64.

Over the years from going from Windows XP Professional 32bit --> Windows Vista Business 32bit -->Windows Vista Business 64bit --> Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit the performance is best on Windows Vista 64bit.

No one should be using anything below Windows XP Home, and games should be played on the PC not Linux or the Mac.

Any version of XP or Vista will do, but you generally need a better computer to run it with Vista.

I don't know if BF2142 actally supports anything older than XP, 2000 might work since XP is based on that OS

It all comes down to hardware.

On my xp rig
amd 3200+@2.2
1 gig ram
ati x1650apg
2142 med-couple of things high 50-30 fps

Vista rig
amd 6000x2@3.0
4 gigs of ram
8800 gt oc2
2142 all high 100-80fps

I can get the same if xp was on my vista rig. if i tried to put vista on my xp rig then shot me, it would be easier
