I just install BF2 from the complete collection CD onto my PD with XP service pack 2. It did all of the installs and patching automatically and I rebooted. When I play BF2, it asks me to create a user. I enter all of the information and it says:
"Connection with server refused"
So I'm stuck. I can play single player but who cares about that?
My firewall is off.
One concern: I don't know if it patched correctly because when I open BF2, at the bottom left of the screen it has the numbers: 1.1.2965-797.0 Is this the version number? I re-downloaded patch 1.41 and it tells me it install correctly so I don't know what's wrong.
I also just tried to install in safe mode with no results
