key code authentication FAILED?

can any1 help please....activision said they would never ask me for my key code again.... I am unable to join any server because they are wanting to authenticate my key code, I think it's got something to do with me defragging the hard drive, I don't want to reinstall unless I really have to, so if any1 has any idea how I can solve this problem without having to do a new install, your help would be much appreciated....thanks in advance all.

P.s. I could connect without any problems before the defrag.

Go to options and do the enter key code thing. Type in your original code and it should work fine.

Ive had the same thing on some particular promod servers..now it seems to be fixed but my mates can get on our server but i cant...I get the key code authorization...

Repatch. Or reinstall. That should be the simplest solution.

Reinstalling seems like the most obvious solution, just make sure to back up your online profile.

Lol i had this last week as well..ive already reinstalled...twice...and the firts time i forgot that i didnt have the 1.7 patch anywhere..so i had to redownload it..and tbh i dont care about profiles i just left it...

You can d/l a level 55 profile, just google it.

I have this problem too except a slightly different story.

COd4 would not find servers on my laptop computer although the other night my friend was playing on it. Today I get on my XP desktop and I am finding a bunch of servers and both computers use the same key code.

Then I get the key code auth message upon joining one server and now both computers cannot find servers to join. WTF is this shlt? Some major glitch in the patch? Both puters were patched (1.4 > 1.41 > 1.6 > 1.7 and 1.6 > 1.7). We've tried reinstalling the laptop twice as well as patching but nothing works now.

Its something to do with the activision server, when you ping to it-- its not responding back.. its happening to a LOT of people today. If you do not want to reinstall COD4, just wait till tomorrow and see if it keeps doing it

im getting the same thing but I was thinking maye its because of the storm happening cause I thought there was a master server over there

Yeah that was what I thought - packets are being sent but not received.

Hey guys, quick update from me since fourzerotwo is still at PAX.

We are aware of the issue and have had a bunch of people working on it all weekend. We're close to a resolution and we'll let you know as soon as its fixed. Please hold in there, we know its painful to wait - but trust me, we've been forgoing meals and sleep to get it back up and running 100%. Just please bear with us a bit longer.

Also, reinstalling, clearing your config, changing hosts file, etc. will do nothing for you guys. Don't want you chasing your tail trying to fix it on your end - we'll let you know as soon as its up again.

It's with ALL activision servers, even call of duty 1

Thank YOU!!! Finnally..Lol yesterday we were getting challenegs for matches and people were like Do you have a server ? and both clans had a server but they were both down!!!!!
