Just like the title states why have all the HQ servers gone hardcore. I hate hardcore. I also see that not as many people play this game like they used to.

Hell I see what you mean I went to go play TDM and all I saw was Hardcore and most if not all had a high ping. I am thinking about getting a COD4 server just to have a good place to play.Comment

Hardcore is over saturated in COD4. Just like karkand infantry only servers were when BF2 introduced infantry only mode.
It sucks because supply and demand caters to those the casual gamers (since there is more of them).
I just don't understand how people will want to play something like hardcore HQ.. I guess its for those people who can't get a kill other than to spam the capture point.. Makes sense, since most of the gamers who play are casual gamers-- they will want to play what gets them kills.
Stilla, its hard to populate your server as well, just remember that too. If you are into competition, try some pugging or scrimming with teams. It is an entirely new experience that you might like. If you are a good shot, good at reading the enemies mind, and is good at playing mindgames with them.. you should do wellComment

We have one of each and the hardcore one is used most.
Dont know what to say, but it is hard to find regular servers or people that are willing to stay long enough to populate one.

I know of a few TDM/SD regular servers, but don't know of a single regular HQ server.
Like you said, it's most appealing to the average gamer because it's the easiest (HC + HQ) to perform well in - but that's what's dissapointing, few casual gamers step beyond their limits (which, might I add, HC and HQ hardly presents a challenge) to try to improve their skills.

Just did a scan using the in-game browser...there's around 20 populated softcore HQ servers. From the pings, most of them are in Europe however, so that might not appeal to some players depending on their location.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of gamers are just casual, and their time is limited. They want to jump in and have fun, and just don't have time to practice for hrs and hrs to improve their skills.
These aren't the only reasons, of course, but much of it is that HC is fun for a lot of people because they generally are able to kill what they shoot at, even if they also die a lot, and HQ is also an enjoyable mode to play because it's easy to get the hang of and get involved...again, having fun.
It's frustrating for casual players to play SC and have people using Juggernaut, and spaz-jumping/flopping around everywhere to avoid dying, so they'd rather play HC. A lot of "skilled" players have actually driven many other players away because of the tactics they've used. In addition, I think that a lot of people also prefer HC because the mini-map/radar isn't always up, which makes it a bit easier to move around the map without people tracking and shooting through walls.Comment

Yeah, that's what drew me to HC in the beginning. I could be successful with any gun I liked (G3/M14/Uzi/etc.) or I could play as a stealthy sniper, avoiding the enemy UAV and such. So, being a former HC player, I do see many of the points of view, but it just upsets me when there are so few regular servers.Comment

I agree that it's disappointing that the SC mode is suffering a big drop in players, as variety is generally a good thing. It's unfortunate that IW didn't do more to correct some of the imbalances that were uncovered as more and more people played it, and that so many people decided to use some "questionable" tactics and playing styles just to boost their own scores, not caring how they were seriously ruining the game for a lot of other players.
On small servers with the right kind of players, SC is a lot of fun. But it's also very easily ruined too.Comment

lol silly hardcore people, they think it takes millions of rounds to kill people :S, ive killed 2 shot with a mp5 on a guy in softcore same with ak and m4, really small amount to killOriginally posted by David "Zuke" Z.Only 2-4 shots (with an AK for example) in regular. That's far from a whole clip.

I don't really mind playing hardcore servers. Its different, a bit faster paced, and challenging in a different way.
Plus, it is a bit more realistic, in some senses.....
depends on if they've already been hit too, ya know.
