High Ping or effed Up Server Browser

So finally after I got BF2142 working after a week of solving problems I am able to play BF2142 for about three days no problems. However since yesterday when I refresh the server browser ALL of the servers have pings above 100, something which did not occur a couple days back, even when I get into a server I still have high pings which cause lag. I'm not on wireless and all my other games ping fine, no problems there. What could be the cause of this?

btw pinging Yahoo.com from CMD gives me 42ms average, I'm on a 1.5mbps/256kb connection.

It's my ISP, those bastards (AT&T), this the fifth damn time I've had to call a tech to come on over. Mind you I haven't laid my hands on anything network related and if I were to do so I'm computer savvy enough to know what the hell I'm doing.

Are you sure you weren't downloading porn simultaneously? Cuz that will screw up your pings too.

as far as internet and ping goes i hardly saw any difference between 3mb verizon dsL and 10mb Charter cable i moved to another location about 300 miles away southeast of where i was and my pings on some servers maybe dropped by 5-10.

the interesting thing though is when i got the new computer i noticed another 5-10 ping drop on alot of servers. so your cpu does tons of stuff in terms of playing online it calculates networking type stuff and having a fast cpu can drop your ping too.
