it is very newb friendly online
i've had the game since release and OF not long after its release, but had never played online against people until 2 days ago, now ofc i had more experince then a complete newb but hadn't played against human tactics
to my surprise i did rather well, and i much preferred it doing 2v2 with a mate against randomers. Its great for teamwork.Comment

Usually you can find out by clicking the host and seeing the ranks of the players as well. Start learning teamwork with humans vs computer match.Comment

Yes I think it is. :) Theres still a lot of "noobs" playing and also a lot of 3 vs easy computer games going on. Although theres also the really hardcore guys.
The game is easy to learn but hard to master.

Happynoobing: the human vs computer games are usually called "comp stomp" incase you din't know. Its a great way to start playing online.
