We're giving you the same answers we'd give anyone asking questions like this.
It's the same as if one of my friends asked to borrow my gun and body armor/ballistic helmet. I can only think of a few reasons for someone to want them, none of those reasons are good ones.
You would have to convince someone your intentions aren't what they seem. Since you're dodging the question like a sh*tty politician, you look shady.
And I do know of at least one sure-fire way to have two instances of a program, any program, run on the same hardware. So it isn't like none of us here know. We just want to know why before we give you something like that so we aren't accomplices.

So have you tried installing to two different folders with different CD keys yet? Seems like it should work if you use 2 different shortcuts to launch with fullscreen off and maybe +multi.

As dumb as coming to a forum full of BF2 vets, avoiding giving a direct answer to a simple question and then setting about insulting anyone who doesn't give you a straight answer.

Let's make this simple. The answer is, it's possible and it's not that hard to achieve. Apologies to those that you have decided to insult for no good reason. Explain why you require two instances of BF2 to be run and then I'll private msg you the details on how to do it.

Is there a way to run two instances of battlefield 2 on one computer using two cd-keys?

I know there's +multi start up command but it just opens up two windows using the same cd-key so I can't play online with both windows.

I'm thinking I might have to copy battlefield 2 installed directory and make another shortcut to start from that directory and maybe edit registry to add another cd-key I have? I don't know

Any help would be appreciated.

actually, i was wanting to do the same thing so i can have another idler for my clans server.

Heres what im gonna do, im going to install MicroSoft Virtual PC and this way i can have 2 computers on one HDD each with there own registry.

then you will need to install a Operating System on it (XP or Vista) and then you have 2 computers on one HDD.

Just make sure to have enough power/processor/ram to support 2 computers and an extra bf2 cd key!

^^^That was the method I was going with. I used it to run "dedicated" servers for LAN games. Since the games were all old, my comp had more than enough power to have multiple instances running. A lot of games give a lot more options on a dedicated server vs a listen server.

I don't think VirtualPC's virtual video card is good enough to run BF2 though. You could probably run the dedicated standalone server in a virtual machine but not the client.

you can also host a server with full bf2cc and bf2ccD access from your computer and connect to it via vBF2.

but ya, you need a pretty good computer to handle the 2nd instance of bf2.

Hmm. I have 4GB. My 32-bit XP only sees a little over 3GB. I'm wondering if I could use the other GB if I ran a VM... Can VMs see RAM that the primary OS doesn't?

I doubt it. There is a fix for that, but I don't remember what it is. Try google.
