Me and some of my friends want to rent a server so we can mess around in BF2 and not have to take our pc's to eachother's houses. I've never rented a server before, and i just want an unranked server. I can get a 10 slot server for 9.99, cool. My question though, if i have bots, to those take up slots or are slots just for real players? Also, do i get all the admin commands and stuff?

I believe you can only run Conquest (without bots) on a ranked server. If you buy an unranked server, you can do what you like.
You'll get admin on both, but you'll only get FTP access with unranked. -

I cant remember if bots take up slots, havent done a bot game in two years. I dont think they do, but someone may correct me if Im wrong.Comment
