Weapon levels and the achievments

I'm not getting this. What do the achievments do? How do you upgrade your weapons? Like sometimes I get killed by a pyro, and its says below his name that he had a level 10 flamethrower, the backburner.

Levels don't mean anything now, Valve did say they had some in mind for the levels but it's not important now.

If you get a certain amount of achievements, you unlock a weapon for Medic or Pyro and next Tuesday, you can get unlocks for Heavy.

Yeah, Valve said something about Levels.
Maybe more unlocks?! :awes

I believe Valve said it meant nothing at all in one of their Q&As

Don't all of the pyro weapons say level 10?

So I just have to get a crapload of achievments and i'll get the pyro, and medic weapons.

Also, I still cant figure out how to taunt. :shakehead:
