How to avoid hackers?

Just looking for a little advice on how to cut down the odds of being cannon fodder for the hackers. Are some sites better than others? Are public sites more risky? how do i know which is public and which isnt? Is it better to be in a clan?
Last of all why do they do it????? Thanks :-)

You can't avoid them. All you can do is play on a clan populated server. That way they will kick one as soon as they are spotted.

To be honest, since the large Punkbuster updates, there aren't many hackers around anymore.

Very true statements, and the ones that are out their.. Are paying out of their *** to do it...

It is a little difficult to spot a hacker anymore, alot of noobs try to justify their lack of skill with calling people who PWN them hackers..

Unfortunately, the answer is you cannot avoid, just reduce your chances of meeting them.

1. Choose servers where the server admins are present (as Alex has said) therefore the larger clan servers should logically (but not necessarily) be the safest. Conscientious admins are incredibly important. Read the clans website see what there attitude is to the reporting of hackers.

2. Choose punkbusted and pbbans streamed servers. Adminmap run servers are also advisable showing the clan are taking a proactive attitude to improving the gameplay experience.

3. In my experience most hackers, like most undesirable creatures come out at night.

4. Infantry only servers are hacker magnets!

5. Most hackers are cowards and avoid using their own bf2 name (very few players are banned by psb/pbbans for name hacking, which is a shame and more clans should be reviewing screenshots to id this type of exploit; run raycaster's excellent site http://www.raycaster.info/hackbuster/index.php while playing, you will at least get notice of a name hacking moron that appears.

Hacker numbers:

Disagreeing with the forum admin is never a good start to a posting career, and for this I apologise, but IMHO there are still a large number of hackers frequenting BF2 servers, and causing more and more serious problems (CTD, crashing servers etc...) With the continued evolution of hacking tools, even PsB and pbbans servers are being exploited, and supposed banned players continue to gain access to protected servers.

One famous hack site reports having over 31,000 members.

There are between 20-40 bans added via pbbans alone everyday.

One well known hacker has so far gained over 200000 points in over 800 hours and has yet to be reset and can circumvent with impunity any streaming protection, EA et al should be ashamed.

I.D. hackers

Favourite choice of weapons: Medic / SVD / RPK

I tend to run http://www.bf2players.net/ while playing BF2 if you are suspicious of a particular player right click and check out the stats & use google to search any infractions/bans

Most of the hackers I have played against tend to keep away from the melee, preferring to keep the opposition at a distance where the hacking tools have the most potent effect. They also tend to be more interested in their kdr than winning matches.

If you suspect or id a hacker then leave the server, kick votes tend to be a waste of time, very rarely will the team with a hacker actually vote 'it' off.

Why do they do it:

1. They want to receive the acclaim of being a 'skilled' (do not like these terms) player.
2. They are bored and/or want to annoy people.
3. Reaction to being taunted, or being 'owned'
4. Stats.

WILL SUPPOSEDLY LEGITIMATE PLAYERS STOP PUTTING HAX OR SIMILAR IN THEIR NAMES/CLAN TAGS - THANKYOU

Any legit BF2 player > Hacker.

Nope, since the large Punkbuster update (where they included the new .exe process), the number of hackers has dropped hugely. I was talking to a member who creates cheats (for a larger hacking company) for BF2 and this is what they said:

Alex: the number of cheaters has gone down quite a bit of BF2, why is that?
xxx: punkbuster did their job
xxx: And because MSX died
xxx: well, diedi for a while, alot of guys got scared
Alex98uk: yeah, i seem to recollect when PB did that massive update it hit a lot of people hard
xxx: Yup

So, even those who make the cheats know the numbers have dropped. To cover their ***, MSX now claim in their Privacy Policy that all hacks are made for singleplayer mode and they won't work online.

As far as I was aware this was a reaction to the possibility of lawsuits based on financial loses incurred by games developers and nothing to do with punkbuster or hack detection.

Hacker designers may claim their tools are designed for single player, but not only do they work in the multi-gaming online environment, there company won't last a week if they are relying on only players intent on hacking off line games.

They are hardly going to publicize their detection status and "100% AntiCheat proof" for offline single player games are they ?

I can only go off my experiences and that of the clans I deal with, and the new problems they are having to contend with, in addition to the number of players they ban for hacking activity.

I agree since pnkbstrb has arrived detection has improved but the numbers of hackers frequenting servers is still large (though this is obviously a subjective statement)

Yea, the companies such as MSX are still advertising as "undetectable online cheats", but if someone tries to claim a refund after being caught, they are directed to the contract and privacy policy which claims they are for offline only.

That way they are not legally susceptible.

I would say that's probably false advertising then; they could still easily be sued in small claims court here in the US. Even if the person lost the court case, it would cost money to fight it, and heaven forbid lots of cheat users got together and filed a class-action.

But they're scumbags and wouldn't do that because they don't want to crawl into the light and admit that they cheated.

None of our software (Hacks, Cheats, Trainers, Addons, Clients, Distribution Tools or any other software) will work in a multiplayer enviorment. All software provided on this site is designed to be used in single player only, and is incapable of multiplayer use.

As we get letters of concern from gamers who feel upset about us providing hacks for games they enjoy, we would like to clarify some things:

The most important one, is online usage. None of the Hacks or trainers listed on this site work online. We arent just saying that as if its legalese, its a fact. We physically make it impossible for users to use our hacks or trainers in multiplayer enviorments. There is no way around this. Even if there was a way around it (there isnt) by them trying to crack our restrictions, the hack would be instantly detected and the user would be banned. We sell the hacks that we do, so that users can experience these cheats without the risk of getting a ban. But let me reiterate this one more time. -NONE- of our hacks work in multiplayer. Yes, that means the BF2 hack with aimbot and etc.. will ONLY work in single player. If someone trys to use it in multiplayer, it closes BF2. I know, we used several images and movies showing hacks in multiplayer enviorments. This is not our hack, and was only done to save us the time of having to get screenshots.

No, but seriously though... there's not much you can do when a bunch of @sshats with hacks come in. I mean, it's like teamkillers and griefers who run around the carrier throwing flashbangs and killing you for lulz: just switch teams or leave the server.

I get a great feeling of satisfaction killing some tool bag hacker multiple times in a row just to remind them they still suck...even with the hacks.

It's true that there's no way to avoid a hacker. I will say though that I've had some fun with aimbot hackers by pulling out a bolt action sniper rifle and getting some head shots. I get a great feeling of satisfaction killing some tool bag hacker multiple times in a row just to remind them they still suck...even with the hacks.

Unless they're that dude with an aimbot who glitched himself into, and he's got a PKM and lots of ammo packs. Those are the guys who I despise with the utmost passion.

I still see the commander hack all of the time. I swear that there is an anti claymore hack out there too. Many, MANY, times I have placed a claymore at the top of a ladder, and then ANOTHER one directly behind me as I snipe and have been bum rushed and knifed with no claymore being set off. I know that no one is parachuting down on me(Karkand), and I know that the claymores have been set for several minutes, not seconds, so I know that they are "activated". I tend to snipe a lot because I am lazy and like to just sit still and shoot the bad guys, so I know exactly how to place claymores to get the best coverage without them killing me.
