Video Card Recomendation

We'll my 512mb 7900 gtx finally crapped out, I am getting some major artifacting. Since this is my third nvidia card that has went out I think I will go with an ATI card.

Can anyone recommend an ATI card between $150-$300.

You're gonna need a pretty stout power supply with that one. It also supposedly gets pretty hot. I wish I had one! :nod:

You'll need a 600W PSU with a good amount of amps on each rail.

It also requires two 6 pin PCI-E power plugs.

ATI-->More problems stay with invidia get the XFX 9800 GX2 So far no problems for me just need to get a 700W psu lolz

ATI have the better cards at the moment. Nvidia can't compete with the 4850 and 4870. The drivers are a little immature, but that is the same with any relatively new cards.

It does seem like a lot of cards to go thru and not have a secondary problem ...sorry man, can't get behind ATI. oh well, whatever floats your battleship :/

for bf2 anything more than a 4850 is overkill, and you can get one for 150$, and if in the future you want a better one, you can just get another 4850 in crossfire.

Yup, agreed, the Radeon 4850 will play BF2 all high (as lnog as your CPU and RAM match it) and Crossfire increases performance a lot these days.

There is nothing around the 4850 price range of Nvidia's that is competitive.

I can vouch for the 4850's performance in BF2, at 1440 x 900 (My LCD's native res) I can play BF2 maxed out with 8xAA and it's smooth as better in 64 player servers.

Crysis runs on all high settings with 2xAA at the same res.

COD4 also runs maxed out with 4xAA at the same res.

Supposedly, the card should perform the same or better at slightly higher res than 1440 x 900.

An 8800GT/9600GT (maybe even 3850 or 8800GS) should run BF2/2142 maxed if you don't want to spend too much.

Edit: Oh, an ATI card, then go with the 4850 like everyone else says. :nod:
