Re: direct X problem
yes...DX10 is better than DX9. The problem is, BF2 is a DX9 game...it doesn't run on DX10. You MUST install DX9 in order to play BF2. When you get to that point of the install, just select yes. You'll have both on your system, but if you want to play BF2, DX9 must be available. -
Re: direct X problem
Just because you now have a DX 10 capable card doesn't mean you can't use it for DX 9 games. That and unless you are running Vista, you do not have and never will have DX 10.
And even then it doesn't matter as the game will add/update the DX 9 files that it requires. If you're really concerned about it download and install this,
DX, Games, Multimedia, WebSetup, DirectX, DirectX 9.0c, DX9.0c, directX9, dxwebsetup.exe, DirectX 10, XAct, DirectX 11
it will add/update any and all DX 9 and DX 10 files in both Vista and XP (won't add the DX 10 files to XP).Comment

Re: direct X problem
I don't have the option to continue with install......????
(your talking about the dx9 install right?)
the error says i need dx 9c... the dx i have is 9b...don't know what the diff is but with 9b i can't install 9c..(if that makes any sense)
I haven't changed anything with my direct x....except intall drivers for the 8600 and game was working just fine before the new card....(cod2 however runs better than ever) very frustratedComment
