    Modified content Error

    well i tried this
Modified content error after update to 1.5
Best bet is to uninstall the game completely and install in this order
    Game
    1.4 Patch
    Northern Strike
    1.5 Patch.

and many other variations of it, updated PB still get the same modified content error

i purchased NS last night and ran the installer on my 1.50 version of the game and that's when i got the first error. since then i have reinstalled, uninstalled, installed 6 times.

    i also tried this

    Start>Run>Type Regedit
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2142
On the right, right click on version, select modify and change to 1.10
Close registry and patch up to 1.5

Worked for me, and I used 1.4 and 1.5 incremental.

    any more ideas?

    Manual Uninstall BF2142

    Install BF2142
    Patch with 1.40
Install NS and patch with 1.40 again < ignore if you don't have the booster pack.
    Patch with 1.50 incremental
    Install Punkbuster services
    Install and run pbsetup

This should be the end of your problems. You could just use the 1.5 full patch, but it apparently causes crashes when looking at medals etc in BFHQ and a unmodified content error on NS servers, so I would avoid it.

      Re: Modified content Error

I've always had problem patching myself because I somehow often ended up with this error. What you need to make sure after you patch, without even trying to connect, is that every .ZIP file located in each map folder and in the "objects" folder is dated from 05/21/2008 (for the 1.50 patch, that is..). If one or more are not, it means that the patching process skipped them and you'll certainly end up with the same error.

Now for the solution... What Natt wrote is perfect, but I do the same thing under those two conditions :

      - I'm logging in "Safe mode" into XP.
      - I don't restart between installation steps. Only when everything is done.

It obviously takes longer, but no background process or app is bound to interfere. That has always worked for me. Hope this helps

        Re: Modified content Error

I get this error every time I re-install.

Using the 1.4 patch and then the 1.5 incremental makes no difference. Doing this doesn't fix the problem.

Don't despair. Install the game. Install the patch 1.5 or use 1.4 and then 1.5 incremental. Install NS. Re patch to 1.5.

The only thing that makes a difference is to go into the registry and change this key.

        hkey local machine/software/electronic arts/EA games/Battlefield 2142/Version

Change this value, by right clicking in the reg editor, to 1.10 and then re run either the full 1.5 or the 1.5 incremental patch (depending upon which you have available)

        This works.

        Enjoy the great NS maps.

I changed the version to 1.10 but after that, if i try to patch it with the incremental patch, it says that i have a newer version and can't get it to work. I also left the version blank and it still didn't work. I can only patch it if i put it back to 1.50. I followed your directions btw.

Did you install the 1.40 patch before AND after NS and then patch with 1.5 incremental?
You may have downloaded a corrupt patch.

                  I had the same problem once, what worked for me was;
                  1. Uninstall
                  2. Reinstall
                  3. 1.4 patch
                  4. NS
                  5. 1.4 patch
                  6. 1.5 patch
