so i load up a NS server, and get kicked for having modified content, i know what to do, repatch, so i have. yet i still get kicked

Someone suggested that patching with 1.4 then NS and then 1.5 would solve the problem but I am here to tell you that doesn't work either.

What you have to do is change a key in the registry that tells 2142 what version it currently is. Patch and install NS. Then change said key value to 1.10 and then patch again to 1.5 and you should be able to join NS servers again.

1.5 is hella unstable on my machine though. I get CTDs every hour or so.

I had that same issue when 1.40 came out. I finally ended up patching to 1.25, installing NS, then patching to 1.40.

You could try going into the registry and changing the version to 1.10 and then patch up to 1.5 again.
Start>Run>Type Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2142
On the right, right click on version, select modify and change to 1.10
Close registry and patch up to 1.5

Worked for me, and I used 1.4 and 1.5 incremental.

I have heard that patching the game with the incremental version of 1.50 is the way to go. So it would go like this.

1- Install Game
2- Patch 1.40
3- install NS
4- Patch NS with 1.40
5- Patch the game with the 1.50 INCREMENTAL Patch. The incremental is like 178 MB, the full patch is about 500MB

That does work quemical but the technique in my post works and is a lot quicker.
A simple registry edit then repatch to 1.5
