Config tweaks to get the most FPS in cod-4 PC

Legit config, PB friendly and it will maximize your fps in cod-4. Mostly designed for older machines needing to get the most out of what they have. I suggest you copy your original config file before you start making any changes. If you jack up a setting you will have to reinstall the game and start all over, unless you make a copy of your current config.

    BFE Editted Yitch3 Config

Just copy and move your config_mp to a safe place for backup, then just rename yitch3bfe to config_mp and place in your CoD4/players/profiles/YOURNAME/ folder.

Yes that will work however; i found i had to change two or three due to the server defaults in order to join. Was easy thou.

Which ones? As it was tweaked for BFE, and we use different pbsv then most... but I've played a few mixes and pugs with the config and not had to change any dvar.

I think it was the lodscaleskinned setting but i may be wrong. It was just 1 or maybe 2 settings which my server had conflict with. Was simple to change.

Yeah, there are quite a few pre-made ones out there already, but it's good to familiarize yourself with the config. A few of my former clanmates would mix configs together to even further improve performance, so that may work for you as well.

Also, I had a tweak to mine, if I remember correctly it was: r_drawdecals 0, it removed a lot of clutter, and well, decals, in the maps making it easier to see/improve FPS. However, some public servers would force you to have it set at 1, so i bound r_drawdecals 0 to f1 and r_drawdecals 1 to f2, switching it up depending on what server I was in.

how do you bind it, so it doesn't just say it randomly in chat?

                Bind what?

                Kodak use toggles >_<

                /bind F1 toggle "r_drawdecals"

                and gamma one:

                /bind F2 toggle "r_gamma 1 1.2 1.4 1.6 1.8 2"

I know a great way to make your FPS better!

Get a 9800. Solves all your problems.

Not really, If you've a terrible CPU, no ram, bad PSU, or you run several programs in the background... :P then the 9800 wouldn't make your FPS that much better...
