Re: Community Mapping Contest
402 posted comments on his blog saying the Winner has been picked, and that it'd be annouce within a few weeks... Though they said there would be a winner for each country, but his comment made it seem like there is only one winner (and probably only from the US Map contest)

The contest has been poorly managed/communicated so far, but don't state your own opinion as fact, especially to new people who are asking for information.Originally posted by ch3ch3nit s not going to happen in 2008

Re: Community Mapping Contest
i build this up not as a fact but whit my personal opion and i do think you will have to wait for the next cod4 update at least 3 mounths if not longer. You can just feel they are dumping the support on this game. Espesially now cod5 is coming out.Originally posted by Whiskey View PostThe contest has been poorly managed/communicated so far, but don't state your own opinion as fact, especially to new people who are asking for information.

Re: Community Mapping Contest
Indeed! In my eyes IW is next EA. Watching for patches too long and absolutely no new content to keep the game refreshing and start on me with custom maps, because half of them are crappy or those servers are poorly admined.

You don't see counter strike dying anytime soon? Anyone still complaining about patches for that game?

Re: Community Mapping Contest
If you want to compete with other games, one of the best things to can do is realeasing new content from time to time.
And CS is a other game, right? So why are you comparing those two games, they are a lot different. Not to mention the CS community which mostly consists of whiny 10 year olds or 30 year old virgin hackers.

But again most source games last a very LONG time. There's just so much you can do, make your own damn map, and then everyone can download it and play it. Skins for players and weapons and such, that you don't need to have a config that matches the server. They just are a little more user friendly.Originally posted by Rick Astley View PostIf you want to compete with other games, one of the best things to can do is realeasing new content from time to time.

Re: Community Mapping Contest
Well, they are very comparable in the competition side of COD4. People demanded singlebomb for COD4, now they want a new UI that lets them select weapons by numbers, kill stats, etc.Originally posted by Rick Astley View PostIf you want to compete with other games, one of the best things to can do is realeasing new content from time to time.

Competition for COD4 is always becomes a bit different from time to time. They decide the ruleset they have is not good enough, and completley revamps it to make you re-learn it. Also, community maps are always being tested for competition.
But, I was comparing how counter strike still has people playing it. Are they whining about new content? Hell, they created CSS and the majority still play the old counter strike.
What COD4 needs is some nice mods, not those little minimods i keep seeing.
