From your description, we can conclude that something is wrong with your computer. However, given the limited information within your description, none of us can further diagonalize the exact cause of failure that you are experiencing. It could be software, and it could be hardware. Without further description, nobody can assert what may have happened. We know there are a lot of CTD in this game, but none so far has experienced CTR (crash then reboot). Since this is new, and isolated, further information must be provided for more advanced analysis, so that it can benefit people who encounter similar symdrone in the future.

CTR is major OS or hardware failure. Both XP and Vista should not CTR. Did you see BSOD dumping memory? One possible cause of CTR is faulty power supply, and the sympton is immediate shutdown and reboot. This is serious failure if it's power supply. Even RAM failure usually won't cause CTR. However, that's the best I can guess. Without exact hardware/software config, it's hard to tell what's wrong.

A common reason for this is overheating. You can download Speedfan for free, to check your temps.
Or you could just unplug and open your case and see if there is a blanket of dust all over your heatsinks and fans. The official way of cleaning them is with a can of compressed air.
You can also disable automatically reboot on system failure by right clicking on My Computer, properties, advanced and I don't know if you are running XP or vista so look for startup and recovery and untick the automatically restart box.
It will still reboot if it's overheating btw.

New ram might possibly help but if your hard drive is nearly full to capacity...it could cause that too because your RAM cant function and do its job because your hard drive hangs your system up.Also check your temps on the system and also video card.....once it gets too hot....it can cause a mem failure too......especially if your system isnt cleaned out regularly and made dust free. Also check your virtual mem pages...make sure they are big enough,,,,,(and give us more info to work with...you"ve given us very vague indicators to help you)

Power supply death could also be the cause as stated previous....good luck
