Random errors after registry mod

To allow my system to run Northern Strike I have altered a key value in the registry but I believe this may be causing various ingame errors.

After a fresh install and patch to 1.5 - I wanted to play Northern Strike. After installing the expansion and then re-patching to 1.5, any NS server I joined kicked me with the modified content bug.

After reading a tip on here I altered the registry key that sets the version no back to 1.10 and then re-patched to 1.5.

This allows me to join NS servers but now I get random and odd errors that I have not experienced before.

These include sudden CTDs. Freezes, my map disappearing and server crashes (sometimes the server goes down and sometimes it's just me that is disconnected)

Of course all this could be unrelated so just want to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if is there a solution?

Also just noticed that selecting a NS badge in BFHQ gives me a CTD (I think someone else has mentioned this)

delete the registry key and reboot ur system & then reinstall the game.

Some say it is a problem with the 1.5 full patch and you should use the 1.4 patch and 1.4-1.5 incremental. I don't know if this is true tho.
Last time I re-installed I used the 1.25 patch first, then installed NS, then patched with 1.5, got the NS unmodified content error, changed the version to 1.10 in the registry, patched with 1.4, then patched with 1.4-1.5 incremental.
This fixed the NS bug, I don't get any problems ingame, but I still crash in BFHQ
Maybe you should try deleting all the cache crap before messing with your install.

It was giving me grief today so I decided to uninstall again. I might wait until 1.6 or even BF3 before playing again

Next game on the radar for me - Crysis Warhead.
