    Fov

Is it possible to change your FOV ingame? I've looked for an ingame option some time but haven't found it yet.

I've seen frag videos where the FOV is really big, I just want to know if it's possible to change it at all ingame.

    Am I a noob now?

    Cheers

Yep, you can change it within a certain range (65-80, I think). The command you can use in the console is:

    /cg_fov

      Aha, it's console commands :)

Thanks for the help whiskey I'll check it out tomorrow!

On second thought, it's a bit odd that you can only change this in the console. Gives the already good players an advantage the less skilled players don't know how to use.

As far as advantage goes...yes and no. Your field of view is wider, but to put all that extra stuff on-screen, every object is smaller in size...so you can't as easily see enemy troops in the distance.

Some players have even commented that the accuracy of the weapons/hit detection seems reduced with the wider FOV. This might just be due to the size issue above, however. I prefer the wider view myself, but I find that I'm more easily able to kill opponents with the narrower FOV.

          Re: Fov

Using fov 65 you can see more of the map, but it does mean when you are try to aim (not in ADS) with a weapon, you'll need to be 'on target' - it's slightly harder to be directly on target with fov 65, thus people think that accuracy is decreased, its not, its because they can't shoot with fov 65.

There are numerous 'console commands' that help out numerous ways. I editted the yitch3 config slightly for BFE, as a few commands were not needed/we didn't allow in our PB config. You should check it out:

            Re: Fov

When you zoom in to sight with your FOV at 80, you see the default zoom level regardless. It really depends on how you play it.. spec ops would be great with fov at 80, etc.

Thanks for the tips everyone :)

I have my TF2 FOV a little higher and just wanted to see how it feels in CoD4... I can't really say that I like it better yet I have to get used to it.

Correct. FOV has no bearing when in ADS (ironsights). It's always the same no matter what FOV you have set up.
