Solution for:Emulation Conflict problem for Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Version patch 1.5

Here is a copy and slightly edited post of mine from another forum about the emulation conflict for the patch 1.5 of the deluxe version. I wanted to post it here in case some others are having the same problem.

I finally got it working but it was slightly tricky for me. Some of this is because now that I have been using vista for over a year I had forgotten renaming files and all the related stuff.

This system is Vista 64. The "Deluxe" version gave me a headache when it would not activate northern strike. Then after that was activated this headache came along.

I e mailed securom after doing the "Analyze This" and e mailing the analyze file to them. I did not bother zipping the file and it sent just fine.

Here is a copy and paste of their e mail.

    Hello,

Please rename your original <BF2142.exe> (located in the folder C: /Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition) to <BF2142.old>. Then, click on the link below or copy and paste it into your web browser. This will open a blank webpage and a File Download window. From the File Download window click Open, extract the new < BF2142.exe> into the original's folder and re-start the application.

The link for the new file is:

If the problem persists, please send another analysis file of the latest executable to us.

    Best regards,

Here is where it was tricky for me and should not be tricky for you. Vista does not have the same file naming conventions as XP. In "Computer" files are just the name and there is no ".exe". So, I changed the name from BF2142 to BF2142.old and DID NOT change bf2142.exe to bf2142.old. The complete file name became BF2142.old.exe. It worked just fine.

Another problem was that it wanted to extract the file to a folder that did not exist. Save, do not open or run the file. Create a folder called bf on your desktop and save it to there. Then go into the new folder and doubleclick it or hit extract. When it wants to extract to the folder that does not exist in Battlefield 2142 then just "browse" to the Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition folder and extract it to there. After it is extracted you can move the folder on your desktop to the recycle bin. Do not empty the recycle bin until everything works.

Then I started it up and it worked fine.

(posting this resulted in the links being broken up. Just copy and paste them into the address bar and delete the empty spaces)
