Re: Who plays PC and well as a XBOX 360?
I was seriously looking into one of these, but I heard they weren't what they were all cracked up to be...
But if I could find on that had a perfectly functioning mouse and keyboard input (as in exactly the same as my computer atm), then I would buy it for sure. -

defeating what point m8
i find it hard to adjust to the xbox controller after playing 10 years of PC FPS.
All it is doing is allowing you to use a mouse and keyboard nothing more since i got my one i now win most assault battles one on one because i have greater control where my cursor is IE the HEAD SHOTComment

Only if your main reason for using a console is to sit or lie back on a comfy couch with a controller.Originally posted by LimehouseIsn't... using a keyboard/mouse on a console somewhat defeating the point of it?
But for those who use a console for other reasons (ie. cheaper than a well-upgraded gaming PC, standard graphics, already have one for the kids, no compatibility issues with software, games don't have to be installed/uninstalled, less cheating, better friends matching), the controller is a liability in FPS games, lacking the control/accuracy of mouse/kybd. This device, if it works, gives that control back.
If I ever decide to buy a Console, this looks like something I'll definitely invest in for FPS games. I'd like to hear more reviews from people who have tried it.Comment

Re: Who plays PC and well as a XBOX 360?
The only reason i gave up PC gaming is i now have a family with a £136.000 house two cars and a hobby CBR 900 bike.
I had a hand built custom PC worth £1.700 i sold that used the funds to buy a 32'' HDTV new xbox 360 elite and a few other bits.
PC gaming is getting out of hand with all the upgrades every 3 months
so xbox was the way forward for me
i now enjoy my mature clan and my xbox 360
well worth investing in the mouse and keyboard set.Comment

You mean, taking the easy option? I used to think that, being a long time UT2004/BF2/BF2142 player, but with practice, a controller can be just as accurate/effective as a keyboard/mouse setup.Originally posted by HavocKiddefeating what point m8

The contoller is a liability? I'm sorry, but that is just not true. A keyboard/mouse takes time to get used to (albeit less than a controller) And if you think about it, if someone's bought a console without any pre-existing gaming experience (PC or otherwise), they're not going to go out and buy the aforementioned peripheral. It just, in my mind, seems a little lazy.Comment

Re: Who plays PC and well as a XBOX 360?
Why is it a easy option? it is a different option
and when you have been using a mouse and keyboard for 10 years it is very hard to adjust to the controller.
like when you have been in a job for 10 years doing the same thing and move onto something totally new it is hard to adjust.
for example as we are in the BFBC forums  i was a rifleman for 5 years then moved on to sniper took me a while to adjust the L96 from the SA80.

I'm just set in my way i suppose

Re: Who plays PC and well as a XBOX 360?
The controller is a liability in FPS games because it limits what you can do and how fast you can do it. The thumbsticks are nowhere near as accurate or precise as kybd/mouse. It is an inferior control scheme for FPS games (but might be superior for others, such as sports games), therefore it limits the game. When everyone is on the same controller, however, it is a level playing field, inferior or not, but that's not the point.Originally posted by LimehouseThe contoller is a liability? The "getting used to it" argument is invalid - any control scheme you're not used to takes time to become accustomed to.
FPS games evolved to the form we see today on PC...games like Doom, Quake, CounterStrike, etc, were the pioneers, with a huge fan base. Your average console player might not buy this peripheral, but PC users who avoid console FPS games because of the inferior control scheme would. And that's what the original poster is referring to. Smart console players who want an edge on the competition would also be interested in it.
All you have to do to test this is take 2 players of equal skill, 1 who is used to a controller, 1 who is used to a kybd/mouse and pit them against each other with 1 using the controller and the other using the XFPS. Again, if they are of equal skill, and the XFPS performs as advertised, that player will win because it is a superior control mechanism.

Imagine the precision and accuracy you MUST have in games like CS, it's one hundred times harder with a controller because you have to kind of guess how much to move the joystick over, and instead with a mouse, you just move it to where you want to.Comment

Re: Who plays PC and well as a XBOX 360?
They should just add mouse and keyboard support and make everyone's life easier rather than having to buy mouse and keyboard emulators which basically aren't quite as good as a mouse and keyboard but are better than a controller.
That way they would probably sell more copies of Bad Company as you'd get more pc players (with consoles) buying the game as well.
But I doubt that would ever happen.Comment
