Hi all , i just nought battlefield 2 deluxe edition...I saw a lot of guys playing as commander and getting a lot of points...But i asked on the server , and nobody answered me ...now i ask you , how can i be commander?I need some help please...i'm beginner.....If someone have time , and wants to help me please add regenesis93 on xfire ! And that with commander post here...

As above. however, practice on single player first so that you get the hang of how to use the commanders assets. It's not just a simple case of using the UAV, radar and arty as well as supplies etc.
A good commander will know that fighting and commanding is a real bad idea. Sit at your uncap or by your assets. Choose engineer kit so that you can fix anything that has been destroyed.
Remember supplies dropped on destroyed asset will fix that asset but also remember the guys in tanks and apc's need supplies too.
I tend to use radar to watch if the enemy are flanking and getting past my team. If they are then I'll send a squad after them or just keep an eye on them to time my arty attack at the right moment. it takes about 15 seconds for the arty to land on target once you've ordered it.
I'll use my UAV on any squads or loner who I think is going to help the teams cause the most.
I save arty for guys trying to cap my flags. I don't waist it on armour unless nothing else is happening.
My biggest piece of advice is to stay with your assets and don't fight. Although I got kicked from =SF= server the other day for protecting the factory flag on Karkand when I was MEC commander. Classed as fighting commander as I took out an APC with fixed AT by the ramp. Didn't have much choice as my team were to slow in getting to the flag to defend it.Comment

Commanding is a great way to get alot of points, for doing absolutely nothing, but you gotta keep one thing in mind, YOUR TEAM BETTER BE WINNING OR YOU GET ALMOST NOTHING..
and if you Are new to the game, " A Player with a higher rank than you has filled this spot. Just means Go join a squad.. and try again next round.. Try not to be that guy that mutiny's all game long because he did not get the commander slot..Comment

Only be commander if your team is winning, cause if your commander on the winning team then the points you earn will get doubled, but only if your team wins!Comment

Well beeing commander when you just start playing is'nt really good (my opinion). I started as playing in squads, as simple squad member. Then, when i got better, I started playing squad leader. I occasionly play commander, but I dont have as much fun than when im in a squad. Commander (my opinion) is quite boring. To get a lot of points you have to always stay focused on everyone, that is if everyone is playing as a team in squads (90% of the time they play solo).

Such a CROCK. I can agree for the most part with the "non-fighting" commander... they shouldn't be running around in vehicles and what not while at the same time keeping their eye on the big picture, but come on! Be reasonable! In a situation like yours above, it's asinine to expect you to just sit on your thumbs and let them take it for free if you're the only one there to defend it. Well if you end up on a server, that does not allow fighting commanders you may as well not apply, normally when I am commanding I will hang back a bit.. And just watch the UAV and Scans.. and get a fill for what the enemy teams focus is, and than I will slowly sneak around, pausing every little bit, to offer UAV and Scan for my players, and cap flags that they are not paying attention to to help us win, or stop the bleed.. BUt agreed commander is just way to boring.Comment

Got to admit that I was on Karkand today with only 4-5 players on each team. Therefore I went fighting commander as the MEC team were doing a good job of defending the east side of the map. It always crazy being the commander, if you are into it.. I always gotta be moving around though.. Helping the team out any way that I can.. Tryin to sneak in and cap flag or neutralize it for them. . Or hide out close to get a revive if someone goes down..Comment

i try to stay away from those "commanders do not fight" servers because one day, I was commanding, and I get shot at, I quickly get up and kill the guy, and it was an ADMIN, next thing I see is myself back at the server browser with a message "You've been kicked for fighting as a commander." Seriously... they expect me to just LET them KILL ME? So i went back in the server started breaking every rule they have just to make them mad like line jumping, shooting an enemy while I'm blowing up commander assets, and here's the really dumb rule... no attacking main base whatsoever- well here's what happened:
I was in an F35 on Zatar, and I was in the MIDDLE OF THE MAP shooting down a MiG, I get the kill and then another admin says "do you want to be banned"? And i said "why? All I did was shoot down a jet!" Then he says "the jet was destroyed in our main base and hit the ground, still counts as attacking a main base" so yea i just got kicked for a jet that was on fire blowing up in their main base... typical 12 y/o admin i guess?Comment
