Can I not use the l96A1 and the Barret?

Hi all!

Ok, here's my question. I have unlocked both the L96A1 and the Barret .50 cal (which is actually made a couple of miles from my apartment ).

How do I use the L96A1? Only the Barret and the standard sniper rifle of whoever I'm fighting for come up. Can I not have the option of both inside of the game or something?

Any help is much appreciated! I'm really wanting to try the L96A1 out. :)

Sup Brandon,
You need to have bought the Booster Pack to BF2 called Special Forces to unlock the L96A1 or any 3rd weapon for any class, if you can't find the booster pack or don't have the money to buy it, there are people who will login to your account and play 1 round on Special Forces which will then unlock all your 3rd Weapons (L96A1, P90, G36E) etc.

AFAIK, I've got the whole thing. I bought the "Complete Collection". BF2, BF2 SF, Armored Fury, and Euro Force.

Could something possibly not be registering? This software has proven itself less than bulletproof. The install process was an absolute pain.

You need to play at least 1 round in special forces for the L96 to unlock.

Crap, man. I have been playing in SF servers. Namely, addicted-to-games Inf. Only Ghost Town server.

Is there anything else?

The unlocks are only available in non-SF servers.

So just to summarise, you unlock the 3rd tier weapons by playing on a SF server, but you can only use them in vanilla. :)

just to summarize, you need to play one round on a special forces map (ghost town, warlord etc), when you finish playing a round go to the main menu and you will get the unlockable weapon menu, unlock the weapons you want. in order to use the selected unlocked weapons that you got in SF you have to play on a normal server map (strike at karkand, gulf of oman etc)

Anyone else find that retarded? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me, but a lot of other things in this game have also left me dumbfounded. Oh well!

Thanks for the explanation guys. Maybe I'll go check out some vanilla servers and play around. I guess its the Barret only for my Ghost Town stuff. :)

The 3rd tier weapons are default weapons in special forces, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

What do you mean the 3rd tier are default? They don't show up as default when I'm playing SF.

It's quite simple to understand that BF2, like every game has its flaws, You gotta get Special Forces to get the tier 3 unlocks, that you don't use in Special Forces.. That is why like before mentioned UNLOCKS FROM SF, CAN ONLY BE USED IN VANILLA.

With the exception of the P90 and L96A1 (which are defaults for the EU army in EF maps) the other 5 unlocks are each the default for some army in SF. F2000, MP7, G36E, and MG36 are all default weapons for SAS and the SCAR-L is the default for SEAL specops.
