1.41 Patching Failed and Lightning.fx not found errors

Hi, i have just reinstalled windows and straight after i started relinstalling bf2 again, when the ptaching gets to about 8%-16% it Says "Patching Failed"

Then if i try to run bf2 i get the lightning.fx not found, i have tried to fix it by extracting the files from shaders_client.zip to shaders and it doesnt help, as shaders_client.zip doesnt contain a file called lightning or rain.

The funny thing is i tried reinstalling and starting bf2 before patching and it works without errors, i have tried copying the files from shaders_client to shaders before and after attemping to patch.

I have tried anything i could think of, this game is so annoying everytime i try to install this game i get problems which take me weeks to get sorted.

Can anyone help please?

ps: i do not have special forces.

Make sure windows is up to date.
You could try patching in safe mode.

Did you install the patch again? It's obviously not going to work right if the patch failed (being EA the partial patching probably doesn't rollback the changes that it did make).
Make sure you have the correct patch (presumably the latest 1.41).
If you haven't installed this copy of the patch before successfully, try re-downloading it.
Make sure you have a couple of Gig free on your C: drive even if the game is on another drive (shouldn't be a problem with latest patch but was with one of the earlier ones).
As Natt suggested, try patching in safe mode.

Most likely you have a corrupted version of the patch, and need to re-download if it from a different source. Then install it ...should do the trick. I have had to re-download it a couple times before it installed properly, so no worries, just try again. Oh and btw, you only need the latest, which is version 1.41.
