Hi i'm new and from the Netherlands so my apologize if my English is wrong. I've got a problem with Battlefield 2. I played the game on the same PC a year ago with no problems, but no when I'm trying to play the game (with a new video card and a Fresh installation of Vista) it freezes randomly. I'm absolutely desperate so if someone can help, I would hug him in real life.
Problem:
My Battlefield 2 is freezing randomly ingame. It freezes after 5 min. when the screen turns black, but the sound is still playing (the sound is playing with lagg in parts). It seems thatthe game on big servers with 64 players the game more freezes then on a server with 10 platers. I've also noticed that the games also freezes in singleplayer, but less often as in the multiplayer mode. The weird thing is, that the game freezes and after 30 seconds its quite normal and it appears nothing has happend. Then it works for 2 minutes and freezes again. Then its normal, then it freezes and further....
Sollutions I already tried:
- Updating videocard drivers with newest drivers (uninstalled old drivers, used a driversweeper, but no succes). Also tried to use the Sapphire driver in stead of the Ati drivers, but the problem still exist.
- Installing old videocard drivers from the CD i've got. No success, same problem
- Can't update my sounddrivers because i'm using a USB headset. Updating soundcard drivers (not from USB headset) with newest drivers (no success). My soundcard: Creative Audigy 2 ZS. Tried uninstall drivers Audigy and playing with only the drivers from the USB headset, but with no succes
- All settings on 'low' and resolution to 800x600. Also tried to set all the settings on 'Low' or 'off' but all with no succes. Even shutting down Dynamic lighting was no succes
- Installed Rivatuner where I controlled my videocard-fans. When BF2 was running, I forced up my fan speed to 100% (I even hear my cooler rotating) but with no succes. The GPU temperature is 65 Celcius in game
- Tried to shut down Hyperthreading in the Bios
- Updated my Bios with the newest version (last was 2004) but with no succes
- Used a ***** crack, but with no succes
- Made changes in the ATI Catalyst control center (all to best performance, balanced or best quality) but with no succes. Also have shut down AA and other things.
- Made a shortcut and tried to play the game in Windows XP compability and run as an administrator.
- Reinstalled my BF2 and redownloaded the 1.41 patch.
- Turned AGP fastwrite off/on
- Tried updating/downgrading/installing DirectX 10 with the DirectX 9 on the CD of Battlefield
- Installed new PB from evenbalance.com
- Tried the pb_sleep 500 and pb_writecfg in console
- Configured my Router and used port range forwarding
- Cleaned my Documents/Battlefield 2 map
- Cleaned all cookies, spyware and virus (with CCcleaner, nCleaner, NOD32, Windows Defender, manually)
- Shutdown NOD32 and Windows Firewall
- Started a defregmentation of the local disk
- Closed all, not important process on the windows task
- Formatted my computer two weeks a go
- and many more i can't remember
