How I got Battlefield to work with Vista 32bit

So I'm sure there are many of these around but i had a load of trouble getting my battlefield to work with vista, and was also having trouble finding directions to fix my problem. Every time i would go to load it i got the "bf2142.exe has stopped working correctly" error. So i just wanted to make a thread listing all the various options i took in one post.

I'm not sure which one influenced the other but here it is:

Downloaded the latest patch. (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/1215...ail+1.50+Patch)

Updated punkbuster through this program (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php)

After all this i went to my battlefield shortcut. Right Click>Properties>Compatibility tab> Run this program as an administrator

I tried making it compatible with Window's XP but i got a disc error, but you may try if you like and see if it works.

Then i went to Control Panel>User Accounts> Turn User Account Control on or off>Unticked Use User Account Control

Then went to my Documents and deleted the contents in the Battlefield 2142 folder

And my final step was updating my Graphics Card Driver

After all these steps i got it to work, hopefully this helps, oh and, i hate vista.

I installed BF2142 on my Vista 32 bit system and started playing with no problems whatsoever. If you still have problems follow these steps, exactly

First uninstall BF2142 and all components
download your latest video card drivers
then make sure to completely REMOVE and UNINSTALL your current drivers
Restart
install new drivers
restart
Reinstall bf2142
Update to 1.5


If you follow those steps and nothing works, go see the tech center

Did you update your windows? There is a Application Compatibility Update available, it's worth a try if you hadn't it already.
