Im a fan of Harry Gregson-Willaims´ work and I respectfully disagree. Especially if you take into account that 2-3 key parts of MGS theme have been removed since MGS3 due to possible copyright violations. A Russian composer wrote very similar piece in 70s (I think) which MGS theme in some parts is remarkably similar to.

I much prefer MGS3 theme myself, and MGS2 close second. As for "overall favourite videogame theme"- Outbreak theme takes the cake.

My personal favorite is Hitman 3`s main theme. It`s nothing special, not everyone likes it but I find it insanely awesome and makes half of the game, imo.

Close second are SC: Chaos Theory`s Lighthouse theme and Hitman 4`s main theme.

From MGS4`s OST, my favorites are Gekko and Next Gen-Control.

Uh oh! My favourite piece. Personally I think its the only grade AAA musical piece on the OST. Stand-alone, the tracks on MGS4 OST are inferior to most MGS tracks (apart from original MGS, MGS: The Twin Snakes is sublime). However, they do fit into the game just as well as tracks from MGS3. That speaks a lot about how far HGW has come. Considering he has never played the games.

Vamp from MGS2 has a damn evil one.
