    Vista DX10 Error

Every once in a while, my game freezes, and just craps out. I get a pop up saying, DX10 Error. COD4 closes out back to the desktop. Does anyone have any idea why is this happing and what can I do to fix this? I tired updating DX10. But it saying its up-to-date. Thanks.

You need to provide more details. Video card, 32 or 64 bit OS, sound card, etc.

You have a 8600, pretty sure that doesn't support DX10, you need DX9.0c

An 8600 supports DX10 fine. But, CoD4 only supports DX9, so that doesn't matter. I have a feeling CoD4 might be trying to use the Windows DX10 files and because it's not supported by the game it crashes and burns.

Go to Microsoft's website and download the latest client version of DirectX9 c and install it.

Whoa. Even though it supports DX10, it won't play any game in it. It's no way near powerful enough.
