This has been known for a while now... why is everyone freaking out? I've had this exploit fixed on my servers since the first month. :thumbsup:

Also have to take in to thought that out of the 10,000+ CoD4 Servers only about 3,000 or so are currently streaming at all.

Alot of clans/servers are wary of PBBans streaming, because in the past at least, there were some questionable bans on there. Many people are not comfortable "taking someone else's word" for it, and prefer to just ban by their own investigations and the "standard" PB scans.

Also if you run custom maps you'll need to remove the r_sun_from_dvars command... I got the original "full list" of commands but never tested them all, nor knew which ones were used in Hardcore/Custom servers/Modded servers... really the only main ones to watch out for are 3rd person, show enemy and a couple others

PC Cheat Exploit Fix In The Works

I also wanted to note for our PC players, we’re currently working on a fix for the PC cheat exploit that many of you reported to us after the 1.6 patch. Thanks to everyone for their quick response in getting us information on it. The programmers are currently addressing it and I’ll update you when you can expect the fix to hit servers as soon as I know.

A Complete fix for the exploit will be included in the 1.7 Patch that we're currently finished up and was sent to Activision QA for final testing.

I've gotten used to it, but there's an option in your CP to change the template if you want to change it. And request for your password. I had to do the same.

No need to worry about the exploit any more - it has been patched by a PunkBuster client update. It intercepts the console input and changes a character so that the exploit commands no longer work.

I am so glad to get rid of the stupid CVAR checks I have had to run to keep the exploiters out. Combined with the PBBans checks I was running 153...

For those of you who don't believe me, try the exploit yourself (preferably on your own server...) after updating punkbuster

Yea I know/we've known about PB updating for about a week now, but there fix is only temporary - and what about servers with PB? Though those are ALL asking for cheats when PB is off... and any one could potentially bypass the pb fix if they know how...

What you say is correct, although I am sure that attempting to bypass PB would result in a #130000 PB violation. Something that can get you hardware banned

I am appreciative of EB's fix, but as you said - it is only a preventative measure until IW get their act together and patch their own game. Until then though - it is a huge load off the backs of server owners everywhere.

Sv_cheats is a server and client side variable that allows the use of cheats. If sv_cheats is set to 1, cheats are enabled. It gets a little more complex than that with this exploit unfortunately - but that is basically what it means.
