Yea, no prone in BC mate, it apparently made the sniper too overpowered due to the awesome ghille.

Doesn't bother me that much, i like that its not like BF2 where the winner of a fight isn't decided by whoever can push prone the fastest.

The no prone thing doesn't bother me at all... Not once in the 7 hours of playing the demo i have tought that "damn, where's the prone when you need it"...

            Re: No Prone?

A lot of great games from the past had no prone (only crouch) and gameplay was terrific. Seems like ever since prone was introduced in games, people have found ways to exploit it (especially in BF2).

I like it as a realistic gameplay element, but unless developers find ways to properly "nerf" it so that it isn't an offensive tactic (ie. no dolphin diving, can't prone and immediately shoot with any accuracy, prone animation takes more time, etc) then I'd almost prefer games leave it out. Going prone is largely a defensive tactic in the real world, whereas in games, the way it has been programmed often makes it an offensive one.

Realism is always a big draw for me, and although i loved BF2, i always found that everyone throwing themselves to the floor every 5 seconds killed the immersion.

So yea, unless implemented correctly, i would prefer it left out as Whiskey said.

That being said, i think 2142 did fairly well on the whole prone balance issue.

I spent a few minutes trying to figure it out before realizing it's not possible. I don't think its as big a deal after playing for a while.

I miss it alot... Plenty of times I can say I needed a good prone for more cover.

I used to moan when I couldn't prone but now I'm used to it so I'm not having a fit.

I can't say it really bothers me not having prone.. like others have said i havnt had many situations where going prone could have saved me. and it is very refreshing not having people dropping to the floor every time they fire there weapon :)

                        Re: No Prone?

The thing about having no prone is, its not about whether you miss it or not its about why it was taken out in the first place. As Flamesfan said the whole dive to the floor issue from BF2 was solved with 2142 with crouching being more effective than proning because of the time delay to readjust your weapon from hitting the floor.

The benefit of prone was mainly felt with the sniper and support guys as their weapons need stability for accuracy and being prone gives that. Dice said that having prone with the sniper made it almost invisible and therefore too powerful but what is the point of a sniper having a ghillie suit in the first place??? Maybe an adjustment to the sniper class would have been more effective rather than altering something in all the classes?

I think these are the questions we should be asking rather than answering whether we miss the ability to prone or not when we haven't actually had the chance to try it in game.

I think it was more for the issue of balance in all the classes.

Have you seen when a sniper hides in the bushes in BC? They're virtually invisible anyway.

Yea, but that at least limits your hiding places to bushes and long grass. You cant just lye down and magically become a bush.

Sometimes i just shoot at bushes, you would be surprised how often you can get lucky lol.
