Have not played in a while and have a few questions.

Ok so i got BF2 the day it came out and stopped playing a few months before 2142 mainly cause my PC sucked and i did not have the time.

Well i will have a new PC built by friday and want to play BF2 again the specs will be.

Pentium dual core E2200
2gb DDR2 ram
Asrock quad core mobo
Asus Ati HD3650 256mb

I know the specs are easily enough to play the game so dont worry about that.

How ever if somebody has a similar set up i would like to know how well it plays.

Any whoo.

1.Are there still plenty of people playing the vanilla game??

2.Do people still play the euro forces booster pack and special forces??

3.I see alot of thread's complaining about cheating and am a little worrid my fun is going to be ruined so how bad is cheating in BF2 really??

4.Are there still official ranked servers up or has EA packed there bags and gone 100% to 2142??

I'm a newbie, but will try to answer your questions.

1) Still lots of people playing the Vanilla game, including me. I've found no end to the number of server choices I have.
2) Not sure about this
3) I can't tell how bad the cheating is since everyone kills me anyways lol. I don't find it too bad though, the game is defiantely still very fun
4) There are a ton of ranked servers out there. Don't think many of them are "official EA" ones, but the stats are all updated properly.

The only hacking I've seen recently is all the stuff to do with stats and the leaderboard. It's not often that you'll run into a script kiddie in game.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this.

If you're talking about servers that are run and hosted by EA then there's not many left. However, there are LOTS of clan-run servers that are still ranked. No-one knows how long the ranking will last but I doubt EA will pull the plug at least until BF3 comes along.

Good to see there are still a fair few playing although 16,000 is alot lower than i thought but i suppose that goes up and down depending on the time you play.

I only asked question 4 cause last time i played the game there was always some admin in a clan ran server on a power trip and kicking folks just cause they killed them.
